Default Ls3 camshaft for a C5 that autox's

I have a C5 Z06 that has a LS3 swapped in. the engine has a Vengeance racing stage 3 cam ( 231/243/ .616/.624/ 115+3). The car is not drag raced it is my SSM Autox ride. This cam is causing a surge and has a sizable jump in power at 4k rpm. this make the car difficult to autox as the power hit mid corner. I am thinking of swapping out the cam to something that will smooth out the power band. I was thinking something ing the 224 range. Anyone have any suggestions? I am willing to lose some peak #'s to gain under the curve.

that is a very big cam for an LS6.

The 224 would have much better throttle response.

stock cubes? the L92 heads do not need a big cam, its not like the cathedrial heads. I have an LS3 to a 416 and mines only a 232/246. If its for road racing/ autocross, id lower the lift as well

Bsalie, that is a good size cam but more importantly how well is the car tuned? I would guess that a smaller cam might be a bit more appropriate for the task but I think making sure it is tuned well will go a long way to helping it be a bit more autox friendly. What else is done to the LS3? Stock heads/intake/throttle body, etc? Also what gears are in the car? I am good friends with the GM tuner at a local shop who also owns an heads/cam LS3 Camaro. His cam is not as big but the car's street manners are excellent.

The car is very well tuned. That did cure a ton of its bad manners. It has the stock gears and the MN12 tranny which are perfect for autoxing. we are just trying to make it have a smooth power curve when it drop low in the rpm range.
The car is fun on the street, but could be faster on the autox

When your car was tuned did they adjust your VE table? The whole table, between an LS3 and LS6, should differ by quite a bit. Just a thought.

I would suggest the following cam, it would move your power bound down almost 1k and not be near as peaky

CMC-20 Camshaft

21st Century Muscle Cars CMC-20 LS3, L99 camshaft will produce excellent broad RPM power gains and has a moderate musclecar "lope" It is suitable for six speed manual transmission equipped vehicles as well as six speed automatic transmissions cars

Suggested in LS3-L99 applications

Camshaft specifications: 223/235 duration @ .050 .610/.620 with 1.7 ratio rocker arms 115.0 CL.
