NASA / Grass Roots Ultimate Track Car Rules
Been looking and can not find the rules for the Ultimate Track car challenge which runs at VIR ... Think it is run with NASA event. Anyone know where the rules are ... What is needed for a car to run in that event.

They use to run a shop and independent varsity and jv, but last year there was an overall winner as well as several sub winners like "fastest Porsche" "fastest BMW" "fastest Mazda" "fastest turbo car" "fastest NA car" "fastest street legal car" etc, etc, etc...
Like Travis said, you just have to be able to pass a NASA HPDE/TT tech inspection.

Hello, Ultimate Track Car Challenge Veteran,
Nothing compares to the excitement of a high-performance track machine in its element. For several years, Grassroots Motorsports magazine has invited the coolest track cars in the country to strut their stuff in our annual Grassroots Motorsports Ultimate Track Car Challenge, and the 2012 event is shaping up to be the best yet. The UTCC will return to Virginia International Raceway’s Full Course on Friday, July 20, 2012.
You’re receiving this letter because you have either competed in a prior Grassroots Motorsports Ultimate Track Car Challenge or you have previously applied for a spot to participate. We’d like to invite you to throw your hat into the ring again this year.
We’ve got an exciting change planned for the 2011 Ultimate Track Car Challenge: Gone are the classes, and in their place are a wide variety of sponsored trophies. The result for participants will be more cash prizes throughout the field.
Just like last year, the 2012 Grassroots Motorsports Ultimate Track Car Challenge will feature a wide variety of sponsored trophies, from fastest marque awards to drivetrain and engine prizes. The result for participants will be more cash prizes throughout the field.
Our friends at NASA Mid-Atlantic will again handle the on-track portion of the event as a Time Trial competition. All competing cars must pass the NASA technical inspection for a Time Trial event, and drivers must hold a NASA Time Trial or equivalent license.
We love variety, so we’ll be drawing entrants from our list of hopefuls that represent a cross section of the fast, wild and wonderful. That can include everything from Spec Miatas and rocket-quick daily drivers to purebred time trial and race monsters. Wings, slicks, insane boost, hotshoe drivers—anything goes in the search for more speed.

There are a limited number of invitation-only spots for the 2012 UTCC. We will make our final decision in mid-June and will extend formal invitations to our selections shortly thereafter.
Competitors can win prizes from a number of sponsors, including StopTech / Power Slot, Exedy, Corvette Central, Kenny Brown Performance and Grassroots Motorsports, amounting to thousands of dollars. We’re planning on having trophies to acknowledge racers throughout the field, from the angriest purpose-built track machines to the jaw-droppingly quick street-legal sedans. Expect the sponsor list to grow dramatically in the coming months. If you're interested in sponsoring the event or a trophy or award, please drop us a line.
Thanks very much for your interest in our Ultimate Track Car Challenge. We hope you can throw your hat into the ring and join us for another high-speed shootout at VIR. Check out grassrootsmotorsports.com/utcc for the latest details.
