CRP Racing Will Debut The Carlisle IT #02 Corvette With Driver Brian Kubinski In The Pirelli World Challenge Series At Long Beach Grand Prix
Harrisburg, NC (April 9, 2012) – CRP Racing has signed World Challenge GT driver Brian Kubinski to pilot the No. 02 Carlisle IT Corvette in 6 events for the 2012 Pirelli World Challenge season. Kubinski, of Shorewood, IL, is a veteran World Challenge driver, winning Rookie of the Year in 2007. Kubinski has more than 20 years racing experience, beginning with karts and continuing with Skip Barber Formula Fords, Zerex Saab Pro Series, Mid-American Stock Car Series, ASA Stock Cars and NASCAR Short Track Late Models, SCCA Club Racing, Trans-Am Pro Series and American GT. Kubinski ran partial seasons with CRP Racing in 2008 & 2009 and finished in 5th & 7th place at the St. Petersburg season opener in 2010. Brian had a career best finish of 3rd place at the Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, IL, in 2009 while driving the CRP Racing/ Diamond Construction/ Trim-Tex #12 Corvette.
“After being away from World Challenge for almost 2 full seasons, it was awesome to receive a phone call from my old buddy Nick Short. I was so happy and honored to hear that Nick put together a deal that allows myself to drive again in the CRP Corvette,” says Kubinski. “After watching CRP Racing grow and expand into a top notch caliber race team, it’s a dream come true to get behind the wheel again of the Corvettes that Nick began to develop back in 2008! I have to also extend a special thanks to Dave Roberts with Carlisle and John Berlin with Carlisle Interconnect Technologies for also making this program possible. Thanks also to my Corvette pals and supporters back in Chicago who have been behind me the last couple of seasons. I can’t wait to see everyone again, SCCA Pro Staff, Competitors and Race Fans at Long Beach!”
“This is Carlisle IT’s inaugural venture as primary sponsors in motorsports and I am excited to be a partner with CRP Racing in running the No. 02 CIT Corvette in the Pirelli World Challenge Series,” says John Berlin, of Carlisle IT.” “Nick Short’s CRP team was a force to be reckoned with in 2011 and I look forward to our company helping propel their 2011 success into the 2012 season with driver Brian Kubinski. By all accounts, this should be a very thrilling race season for the CIT/CRP Racing Corvette.”
Calisle Interconnect Technologies (Carlisle IT) is one of the world’s leading designers and manufacturers of high-performance wire and cable including fiber, RF/Microwave, specialty and filtered connectors, cable assemblies, complex harnesses, integrated installation kits and ARINC trays, racks and shelf assemblies and offers engineering and certification services with DER, DAR, and DMIR personnel on staff.
The CIT Corvette will make its debut at the Long Beach Grand Prix April 13-15 and plans to run in 5 more events: Miller Motorsports Park, Monterey Grand Prix, Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix, Mosport International Raceway Speedfest and the Mid-Ohio Grand Prix.
Sanctioned by SCCA Pro Racing and managed by WC Vision, the World Challenge Championship will offer four categories this year – GT, GTS, Touring Car, and Touring Car Spec-B. The series will feature 12 races at eight different venues. It promises to be an exciting, fun-filled season for all race fans.

I haven't followed it closely, but seems like they cannot keep them on the side for too long given the Nissan sponsorship.
I wonder when they made the car decision for the first race - did they just put fresh rubber on last year's C6 and then break the track record?

It was a different color.
The St. Jude Logo is what really drew my attention, and the fact that it was a Corvette. I asked about the logo on the Vette, that question lead to a very exciting day.
I was allowed to sit in the race car and I was asked to be Mike's Flag's Girl for the Race.
Everyone at CRP Racing made me feel like part of the team and they were so nice to me that day. I hope to pay them a visit at the shop one day.

Plus Skeens car was obviously fast!!!! And since Skeen is moving to a GT-R, why try and reinvent the wheel when you can just hop in a proven winner which they already had possesion of.
If I was Kubinski, I wouldn't hesitate to hop in that bad boy!
