APR decklid mounted wing your experiences
Installed my GTC 500 with the provided mounting hardware. Anyone have experience with how the decklid will hold up on a high speed track like Road America? The metal backing plate looks sturdy, but I'm concerned about the decklid itself cracking.

There are a couple guys I've seen that deck mount them and they seem fine hitting speeds up to 150+ at Mosport. I think they mounted them with plates on the bottom part of the deck. My guess though it also depends on the AOA you would use. With something aggressive and real high speeds, I might not mount that way.

I would feel better if you did something like this. The bolts come up through the trunk lid. Plus, if you spin around backwards you would cause lift.

I had one of the first ones in the midwest (GTC 300). When I first bought it from Johnny at APR I told him my home track was Road America hitting 150+ three times every lap. I/we (friend also has one) had several problems but Johnny stood behind his product and replaced them every time.
No problems for a few years now! Very different product now from the original. If you don't use the plates that I believe are now provided with the wing you will crack your deck lid. We made our own since they were not originally provided.

Thanks everyone!
Todd, with the aero and Continental slicks you just sold me, some good speed should be ahead for me at Road America. I feel better about running this wing now with your reply.

Todd,
What mounting plates are you referring too? Is this a plate that mounts under the deck lid, or is is just the plates that go on top of the deck lid like the ones in the pics above? If it is something that goes under teh deck lid, anyone have pictures?
Thanks

A plate that goes under the deck lid. Similar to the one on top. I used a 1" x 8" piece of aircraft aluminum. I am guessing on the size. My car is not here to measure. We also tapped another hole in the mounting bracket for three bolts per side.

Anyone have any idea how much down force this would buy me at 75mph turn in speed? Are these street legal at all or do you just bolt them onto brackets in the lid at the track???

I talked tosomeoneat APR today. only the 500 model comes with the brackets that goes under the deck lid. the 500 was designed for the C6 which my contact says does not have as strong of deck lid compared to the C5. He said the 300 designed for the C5 and does not need the brackets under the deck lid.

After seeing wings rip off on track I don't think I'd run with a decklid mounted wing. Whenever I get around to installing mine I'll be mounting to the rear bumper beam.
