Bad day at Roebling Road
I went to Roebling Road yesterday to instruct with the Florida Crown Region PCA. Hadn't been to the track since December of last year and was anxious to try out my 01 C5Z since I had a roll cage installed over the winter. First session out on the forth lap the back end let go coming out of T9. The car started tank slapping and when it hooked it catapulted me almost head on into the infield wall. For some reason my Traqmate quit prior to the impact but I estimate I was going almost 100 mph when I hit. I ended up about 150 ft down from the impact facing the opposite direction off track left. I was not hurt but I'm pretty sore today. I am now a true believer in safety equipment. Thanks to BJ Fisher at Genesis One for building a stout cage. I'm glad I was wearing HANS and strapped in securely with a Schrotch Profi III-6 HANS harness. Not sure if the car can be repaired but I'm going to try.

Sorry to hear about the damage...but, it is good that you were not hurt. Definitely a testament to the importance of quality safety equipment. it is amazing how quickly things can turn bad.

Sorry to hear that!!! Glad you are ok. Safety equipment works
Any idea why the backend came out? What was the ambient temp & was it cloudy/sunny?
As far as the car, hope the frame is fixable, RF suspension concerns me.

Sorry for your bad luck!
I've heard stories about turn 9 and hitting pit road wall there. In fact they usually preach on it at the drivers meetings. I went off there in 2010 and the first thing that came to mind was to open the wheel and stay in the grass. Looking back at the vid I actually turned a little left when I went off but it kept me out of the wall. I ended up doing a slow motion 360 and landing in the bushes and chain link fence by that mobile home. Luckily just a few scratches and bruised ego for me.

My front pushed out rather than having the rear come around. I already hit the apex and was tracking out when it came loose. Not fun either way. Scared me bad enough to go buy a LMSC for track days.

Whether it can or can't, you don't need repairing and that's the important part!
Thanks for sharing your story and reminding everybody that this sport is as dangerous as we let it be. Sorry your cage was tested, happy it did it's job.

Greg and I spent a couple of hours today getting the car unloaded and into the shop (boy that was a chore).
For those of you can't justify spending the money for a Hans and a proper seat setup, let this be a lesson.
I can't begin to imagine how this may have turned out had he not had the proper safety equipment.
It's truly frightening how hard this hit was. Glad you're ok buddy.
