Default C4 Fuel Cells?

Does anyone make a drop-in fuel cell for the C4?

Or, has anyone here successfully split a stock tank apart and made it into one?

I havent yet but I intend to . Running HSAX events I dont need 18 gallons . Id like to take 4-6 inches out of each end and weld it back together . with some baffleing inside .

I need the capacity...

I intend to also race it in Open Road Racing events...some of which are 250 miles flat out each direction.

Figure 10 MPG that means I need 25 gallons of capacity. I average a little better than that on my current motor, but this will be a 427 small block with high compression and running E85. I'll need to find out what my fuel consumption rate is when the motor is done and installed in the car, running it flat out at some "shorter" events (like the Big Bend race....only 59 miles each direction with 59 turns in the last 50 miles).

I'll most likely run the stock tank a few times there to see what my average fuel mileage will be before I put a cell in...I'd hate to buy more (or less) than I need and end up yanking it for a new one.

A friend of mine runs a GT40 replica there...since his last engine upgrade he had to put an auxillary tank in to make it to the end of the course. I don't want to make that mistake

Melrose T-Tops used to make a nice system. Not sure if they still make it though.

Fuel Safe offered a bladder for insertion into a C4 tank.

See post #6 here for additional details. If GS023 acted
on the suggestion there two years ago, perhaps he might
have some information to contribute towards your search.

Might check to see whether L71Swede still has the one he was
offering for sale last Sept (9/11). He was motivated then, you
could get a quite a deal over buying new.
Oops, I see he changed his mind. Still, you don't know if you don't ask.

They are on drugs...

For $3k I can get 2 fuel cells (which might need SOME modifications for mounting) but still...

That is crazy money for a tank...using YOUR OWN CORE!

If the numbers shown are current, then these are a bit cheaper
through Fuel Safe vendors. 23 and change seems to be a popular
figure.

Google "Fuel Safe SA107A" for some examples.

Also.

Consider that based on LS71Swede's remark about there being
no in-tank pump present in his, conversion appears to necessitate
making provisions for an external pump.

10 mpg seems amazingly efficient for a high compression 427 running flat out on E85.

In practice, is a multiplier of 1.3 for E85 in the ball park?
Or is a larger figure necessary?

It's a W.A.G. (Wild A$$ed Guess). I have no idea what the mileage on this motor will be until we actually get it together, tune it and run it hard for a few events.

My 355 gets 16 MPG average when I run it hard like that...so I just estimated a 33% decrease with E85 and an extra 77 cubes. I could be way off...just won't know until we actually do it.

The interesting thing about the build is we will ACTUALLY use more of the power available in E85. A compression ratio of 12.5:1 will be used...so only E85 (or race fuels) will be used in this motor.

It's going to be fun...a new experience for sure!

I have no idea how much fuel a combo like that will consume but when I run my stock LT1(that passes smog and produces 290RWHP) on a road course, I get 5.5 mpg in a 3600 pound Corvette.

Never did anything, still running the stock tank which sucks air just above 1/2 a tank. After two sessions at MSR its time to fill up. I still have not decided what to do yet, but I'm lookin.
