Default Worn Pads --- pedal height

Will worn pads affect pedal height ? say all 4 pads are very worn out.

I say NO, as the fluid will make up the difference.
Other say yes, and argue till the very end.

Depends on how the pads are worn. If they are tapered, probably.

Based on my experience a new set of pads gives me a higher pedal, and as a weekend and the pads wear down so does the pedal travel further. Again, my experience after doing this for 2 years.

Yes, they do, because pads don't wear in a completely square manner. So the piston/backing plate fitment isn't completely flat, which causes the MC to have to push a small amount of fluid first to mate up the piston and backing plate, then to press the pads into the rotor surface.

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

On my C5 stock brakes the pads would taper when used on the track and I definitely got a long pedal. When I changed over to the Wilwood SL6 calipers the pedal stayed the same height. On the C6Z it didn't matter whether I was running the stock C6Z caliper or the Wilwood WA6 caliper the pedal has stayed at the same height.

I agree with Bill on the stock C5 calipers and the Wilwood fitment.
