I used to...a LONG time ago.

They were great tires in the late 90's & early 2000's, but I found that take-offs from SCCA Pro series races were MUCH cheaper @ ~$100/ea. vs. $250+/ea. for the BFG's.

That tire is a new compound for this season.

If the R1-S is anything like the old R1's I used to run...they'll be sticky.

Like I said...find one of the vendors here selling take-offs from SCCA events. I got mine as stickers (only mounted/dismounted) for $100/ea.

Scuffs were around $85/ea depending on how much they were used...

WAY better than the BFG's in both price and stickiness...

I have 2 sets of rims...one with medium compound for track days, one with super-sticky gumballs for autocross.

Once I switched I never even thought about going back...I was seduced by the Dark Side of the Force...

The old R-1's were run on the Mustang Challenge cars in a 275 size and were a pretty decent tire as far as grip, predictability and longevity.

The newer R-1S is supposed to be a slightly better tire.

Quite a few NASA guys starting to try them vs. Hoosiers. They have a better contingency program for racing now that Hoosier reduced theirs some to provide a NARRA program too.

R1S is +15 in TT. Might be a bargain if they are A6 grip, given their "plus" sizing.
