Hybrids claimed 4 of the top 6 spots in qualifying for the 24 hrs this year...

However, what you need to remember is the 24 heure is a one off race where the rules can be made to suit.
Audi are hugely dominant and what they want they usually get. Remember the r10 when it first won. The rules and regulations were so skewed in favor of a tdi that it was effectively a class of it's own.
Whenever new technology like this is brought into le mans (not alms) it will do well because it gets negotiated at an early stage. Whether the advantage be through cc, tank capacity, inlet tract dimensions etc etc it's always there. Just transparent to the fans.
I've been attending la Sarthe since 02 and am an avid fan of the whole experience but it is a little staged. Not like wwf but the big guys call the shots.
