FS: 2001 Z06 Race Car - PTA/ST2/TTA/TTS NARRA GT3/TT3
Up for sale is my 2001 Z06 NASA TTA/PTA car. This car is built TO the rules for TTA/PTA and can run in TTS/ST2 as it has the same power to weight as an ST2 car (8.7:1) Also NARRA TT3 (time trial) or GT3 (wheel to wheel). With some of the liberal SCCA T1 recent rules, it wouldn't take much to put it back into T1 trim for SCCA. It would make a killer TTS/ST2 base, some aero on this car and a few suspension and gearing tweaks and this car would run high 1:20's at Road Atlanta and run at the front of the ST2 field on a national level. I know the backbone of the car from which to build off of, is that solid. It has run a best of 1:31.1 at Road Atlanta in TTA trim, which is 1.5 sec faster than the SCCA T1 lap record. With a close ratio gearbox and tweaking we are not allowed to do in TTA it could run high 1:29's, and that's before getting into trick aero stuff. It's fast.
Reason for selling: No issues with the car and I will continue to run it until it sells. Just simply a personal decision.
While this car may appear to be "tame" or mildly modified compared to many other race/track corvette's for sale, I will almost promise you will not find another car that is optimized as much as this one. I have seen many T1 cars sell for more that are not as fast. Because of the lack of rules/modifications we are allowed in class, EVERYTHING (allowed) on this car is set up for maximum speed. It runs the full max ballast allowed for absolute perfect and adjustable weight splits and adjustability and a focus on a low center of gravity. Massive reduction in unsprung weight. There are hundreds of hrs of chassis set up, testing, and tweaking on this car, and a large "book of notes". I think the car's lap times speak for themselves. It is very, very fast for a mostly "stock" car with no aero on skinny tires and it's a blast to drive. It runs ballast to meet class rules, but it's approx 2600 lb with no ballast/no fuel/no driver.
2009 Southeast Runner up TTA Championship
2010 Southeast 1st Place TTA Championship
Ran 15th out of 64 in the 2010 UTCC, no car finished ahead of this car that had less hp.
2011 2nd Place Nationals in PTA
2011 Southeast PTA Championship
some lap times (car holds several track records in NASA and NARRA)
Road Atlanta - 1:31.1 (1.5 second faster than the T1 record, the car is capable of a solid 1:30.xx in TTA trim, as my 31.1 lap was on scrub tires, and included an offline pass in 10a which cost me some time)
VIR - 2:01.5 on 245 size tires! (there is more there)
Roebling Road - 1:17.x (3 yrs ago, there is a LOT more there)
Little Talledega - 1:04.xx
Carolina Motorsports Park - 1:38.2
Mid Ohio 1:33.2 (on a track I have very little seat time at - 1 event, it's capable of much more)
This car was purchased from the original owner in May of '08 with 4,400 miles on it. It was a bonestock garage queen when purchased. It was driven as a dual street/track car for all of '08 and some of '09. I still drove it to most events in '09 and many of them in '10 as well. In winter of '10, it got a cage, although it still is street legal and has a current tag and I drive it to Road Atlanta for every race weekend. Approx 21k miles now. Other than brakes and hubs and 2 rear tie rods, I have had no mechanical issues with the car at all. The motor runs like a locomotive, reliable as ever. It has never been wrecked, on, or off the track. In it's years of battle it's only ever had a handful of mild off track excursions, 1 off at RA in the pea gravel in the wet, 2 offs in the grass at CMP, 1 360 spin at RA (no contact with anything), 1 off at Mid Ohio in the pea gravel. This car underneath is cleaner than many street corvettes. There are many things (build ideas, etc) on this car you won't find on any other corvette.

A zillion other little go fast detail things in the car, too many to mention.
I will include 15 hrs of labor of any work or modifications, including a full set up to the new owner's liking (weight splits and such based on new driver weight, etc). This is a front running TTA/PTA car out of the box, or a very fast/safe track day car. I don't think you'll find a 1:30-1:31 Road Atlanta Corvette for less. I personally would love to see somebody buy it, and put a few $$'s in aero on it and run it in ST2.

I hate to see you part with it, but I respect your decision. I thought long and hard about purchasing your car. I know the "attention to detail" that you put into it. If I could afford to own two corvettes, I would buy it! "I agree, someone is going to get a great car". Just for the heck of it, I will buy a lottery ticket or two this week lol.

Wow! I am surprised to see this go! Your time in development alone is worth the asking price.
I saw this car run at NASA Nationals last year. It is very clean and fast. Well worth every penny! Good luck with the sale Mark.

Mark, good luck selling your car. Man that thing is awesome. You did a great job building/setting it up. You also set the bar for being fast in TTA. I think your records will stand for a while.
Are you taking a break or switching platforms? Either way I hope to see you around the track.
Whomever buys this car is going to have a sweet, fast and well setup car.

I've always bragged about Mark's driving skill and car to non-vette owners. When I tell them it's turned low 31's at RA in a stock powered C5Z I get this face . Hate to see it go as it would be amazing to see/hear of it run the 30 it can but I understand.

The car will be at VIR next weekend with NARRA, I will try to get some interior shots up once I finish up a few interior "projects" I am working on.

The thought of how the shop looks most of the time did go through my mind!
