Have A Nail In Hoosier R6????
Can Hoosiers be patched? Going to Miller Motorsports Park next weekend and pulled my race tires out and one has a nail in it.

I have also plugged race tires instead of a patch, if the hole is small enough. For a nail, a plug will be ok. When you cut the plug, leave about a 1/4" sticking up from the tire, dont cut if flush.

I did a patch plug on one before and it kept losing air. I then just felt uncomfortable about it. Cornering hard on it and doing 150+ on a tire with a hole in it wasn't comforting so I just bought a scrub tire for $100 from the guys on here.

Plugging a race tire is crazy. I'm not talking patch plug, just straight plug. Never in a million years....

With the recent rash of Hoosiers coming apart (myself included a few weeks ago) I don't think I'd be patching/plugging. But, that's just my .02 cents.
...mine had no patches, plugs, or obvious issues....

I'm borrowing a full set from a friend. Hoosier doesn't recommend patching. What worried me was I'mm be hitting speeds between 150 to 160. Hoosier is out, they have a new batch made but won't get them until next week.

About 12 years of HPDE and TT and have patched several. If I threw away every race tire that got a small hole that would be crazy. I never had a problem after a patch job. Heck, I have won a few TT's on R6's/710's with patches...it is good luck

Hoosiers have a thin rubber interliner to save weight, so don't be too aggressive in buffing the rubber preparing to adhere the patch, patch/plug. Some racing tires have no rubber interliner at all(again to save weight, like Dunlops) in which case instead of using self vulcanizing rubber, you can adhere the patch with silicone RTV.

Wish you could go, it's an experience - not that you need any more....
I don't think I've seen you since I added a few more things. I changed out the seats for Caravaggio Daytona's, added a harness bar and a Stoptech BBK. Those brakes are awesome at Thill, looking forward to trying them at Miller.
