Default Lexan Windshield. Where to buy??

I broke the windshield on my "91 C4" installing my rebuilt engine this week. _)(_)(*)_(*()%^&^%$%^

I was wondering where to buy a Lexan windshield that is legal in SCCA/NASA. Or are all Lexan windshields legal?? Since I was going to pay to have a glass windshield installed I thought it might be worth buying a Lexan one and installing it myself.

I bought mine at Clear One.

You need to check the rules of your sanctioning body. Thickness and the attachment requirements are usually defined for you there.

As indicated above, thickness may be governed by the applicable sanctioning body. I bought one at a local glass shop and had them install it.

Can you install lexan the same as OEM, simply replace the glass with lexan? The ones I have all seem are on race cars that have clips holding them in

You can use wipers on Five Star's windows, but I would recommend using a "tear off" product to be the contact layer. Many people use wipers without issues, but using a tear-off on the window will increase it's life in harsh conditions (wipers with road grime for example).

The Corvette Daytona Prototypes, Team Corvette & NASCAR all use Five Star's windows.

Matt

Thanks for info. Everything is good here. My times were getting slower [ never were fast ] and no miss or outward indications of problems but found engine to be worn out. I guess expecting to get 7 years on a engine is foolish.
I'll be back next year, Lord willing.

Pull your old windshield, make a paper template, take it to a local sign shop and tell them to make two from clear polycarbonate sheet. Thickness is your call. install tabs on the windshield frame and attach with dusz fasteners. You may have to put some clips on to keep your tech guy happy. Use rainex or tear offs and take the windshield wiper assembly out of the car (so they will never come on "by accident").

Why two? Get the tape they use to defrost rear windows and put that on the inside of the second one. Take all the heating and a/c stuff out of the car and wire the tape to a 12v toggle switch. You'll be amazed how many races you can win in the rain just because you can see. Never cared for the horizontal lines in the dry. As others have mentioned, consult your rule book. /:\
