Default directional vanes on stock c6 z06 rotors

I knew the vanes were the wrong orientation from the factory, but "forum wisdom" suggests it's sub optimal but not a big deal.

After a day at the track I noticed a brake dust pattern on my driver's side wheel where there's heavy dust behind the spokes, and lighter everywhere else:

It doesn't appear at all on the passenger side:

Am I crazy to think that this is from the vanes slinging air outward on one side but not the other?

I never noticed any difference in the rotors from one side to the other. Once the rotors get hot, air at the hottest part of the rotor expands more and escapes from the rotor edge thus pulling cooler air into the center. I suspect it really doesn't depend on the vane direction all that much. Since I upgraded to spindle ducts plenty of cool air is forced through the rotors so I know with the ducts it doesn't matter which way the vanes go.

veins should curve to the rear when viewed from the top of the rotor.

The OE C6 Z06 and Z51 drilled rotors are all "left-side" rotors.

You can see the holes all arc in the same direction:

Here's a picture of the front rotors, and you can see that, as Tom said, the ones on left arc to the rear properly, but when mounted on the right side of the car they arc the wrong way:

Here's a picture of the rear rotors, and you can see that the vanes are not directional:

So.....the stock rotors probably do not evacuate the air as efficiently on the font right side of the car, and that could very possibly cause what you see on your wheels!!

Butt.....as you mentioned, it's probably not a big deal!!
