Default Continental slicks

Hey guys, can any of you compare the size of the Continental slicks to Hoosier R6 for me? I've looked all over the net and just can't find the info. I'm thinking about giving them a try if they will fit the rear of my car.
I was able to find the dimensions on the fronts, and it seems like either of these will work:
265x645x18
285x645x18

Here are the rear sizes I need help with:
305x660x18
325x660x18

Have any of you guys used these?

My car is a C5 Z06 with coil overs, and I presently use R6 295x35x17 and 315x30x18. Yea, I'm going 18 square on the Continentals.

Thanks

Bill

Bill have you called Mike at Champs Tire

Champstire@yahoo.com

919-528-4547

I just bought a set from him for my 2012 Grand Sport.

The 18's are $200 each plus shipping. The 19's are $375 each plus shipping.

P.S. I went square on my 2008 C6 and used 305*660*18's on the rear. It also had coilovers and I was able to drive it in competitive mode without the dreaded anti-lock intervention.

This may help. It was posted somewhere a while back, but I found it with a quick Google search.

Yes, I spoke to him but he couldn't give me the exact sizes or equivalent R6 sizes. He told me that they would probably fit. I'm just trying to get a little more information

I had a set of pirelli slicks for my C5 and the sizes I used were:
Front 265x645x18 on 11" wide wheel
Rear 305x660x18 12" wide wheel
They worked very well. The tires were noticably shorter in the front and taller in the rear (gearing was very different) vs. the 295/315 hoosier combo I had used previously. Also, the pirellis, especially the front, appeared to be stretched on the rim quite a bit as though the wheels where a bit too wide, but they worked extremely well like that.
I'd bet the wider sizes you have as options would work, but cannot comment if they would provide any performance benefit. In the rear you will have rubbing for sure going wider than 305. The ones I had rubbed the inner liner. Mostly due to the larger diameter than the hoosiers. Going wider will just take up more space and possibly contact the outer fender. In the front, because the 645's are so short I'd say the 285 wide tire is probably more compact than your current hoosier.

Continental IS an R6 without the lines. Hoosier is selling them brand new on their site right now.

I ran the 265/645 front and 305/660 rear on square 18" c5z speedlines.

The fronts are stretched on the 10.5 inch wheel. I will go to the 285 next if they still have them. I may try the 325 rear as well.

I have been running the Contis for the last couple years. I have two sets of track tires.. Set number 1 is 9.5x18 front and 10.5x18 rear and set number two is 10x18 front and 11x18 rear.. I use 285/645/18 fronts and 305/660/18 rears for both sets.

I used to use Hoosier 285/30/18 fronts and 315/30/18 rears on the above sized wheels.

I'm new to slick sizing but I'm guessing that the typical set up for a C6Z running 18x11 and 18x13's would be 285/645/18's front and 325/710/18's rear, can anyone confirm?

Also does anyone know what the difference is between GT, DP and GT-O that they are listing on their site? Different compounds??

The GTO are a softer compund than the GT or DP. The GTO will provide the most amount of grip, but will wear faster than the GT or DP.

Contact Todd or Greg at GT Tires and they will be able answer all of your questions.

710 is quite a bit taller than stock rear OD and at one point I had a minor rubbing problem ; 675 or 680 is much closer.

How did the Contis you have listed fit on the 18x9.5 and 18x10.5? I'm thinking of something similar.

Thanks, I'll give those guys a call later this week to discuss. The one reason that I asked about the compounds though is that I think people need to understand that if this tire is available in different compounds it is not the same as an R6 just without grooves like some people seem to be assuming. R6 is a compound for the Hoosier DOT Radial, if these tires are available in GT, GTO & DP compound I'm guessing that these are probably closer to the Hoosier R80 & R100 slicks. Can anyone confirm?

Were you running this on e C5z or C6z? The reason that I ask is if memory serves me right the Michelin slicks (that everyone seems to rave about) that people are using are also 710's for the rears.

I have two sets of barely used GTO compound I bought mid way through last year, they looked almost new, but I have never hooked up with them ever like I expected them to. I know they are available at a smoking price but I'm just not feeling it..

The DP is not a compound, it stands for Daytona Prototype. That particular tire construction is designed to work with downforce levels that a race car like that sees at a banked track such as Daytona. The 2 current compounds and those used in 2012 are the harder GT-O and the softer GT-R; in 2011 only the GT-0 was available. The posting that these tires(not to be confused with the CTSC tires) are R6's without the lines is inaccurate. This is based on a conversation I had with Continental(Hoosier) engineers at the last GrandAm event held at Laguna Seca.

My personal opinion is they are perfect sizes for both sets of my wheels and also for the clearance on my C5. Not sure I'd go any smaller as there really isn't any benefit.

Oh and I don't think you can get the 710 (27.95" tall) size on a C5, they are two full inches taller than the 660's (25.98" tall)
