Default Best 18/19" non-R comp tires for track

I am looking for some input on the best 18/19" tires for HPDE, not including R comps.

I have run through many sets of Hoosiers, including scrubs, and have decided that it is not worth the bang for the buck, at least not for me. I still have a ton of fun at the track, but I am past the point of chasing lap times with performance mods.

I also have several sets of 18/19" wheels, so that would be the most practical for my wallet. I do have one set of 18x12 rears, and I have run PS cups with pretty good results. Also, the Michelins are very pricey.

I have looked at Nittos, Bridgestone, Hankook, etc., and it seems impossible to find 18/19" sizes that will work. I want the best grip I can get on tires that will last more than two week-ends.

I also know that the rears need to be .5 - 1.5" taller than the fronts in order to keep the AH/TC working properly.

Anybody got any suggestions?

I love my Michelin racing slicks. Great grip and they are supposed to last up to 35 15-20 minute track sessions before performance degradation. Obviously life does depend on driving style and track conditions.

Do they come in a C6 Z06 fitment? What size do you run?

What scrubs did you use and where did you get them? Just curious.

Have you tried GT Racing tires?

Look at Nitto NT-05's. While I have never run them on a Vette, I do have a lot of experience using them on a dual purpose street/ track vehicle. They are definately sticky (treadwear rating of 200) but you should get decent mileage out of them. The tread patter is sick looking and leads you to wonder if they are good in the rain but I can attest they stop and turn in the rain as well as any non-race tire I have ever driven.

(After reading the other replies I might have missed your intent. Thought you were looking for something LESS sticky than an R comp....not more sticky).

I ran Nitto NT-05 on my stock '07 Z06.
Lasted many trackdays and I drove to and from the track on them.........
A bit noisey on hard cornering but they lasted, and they are well priced.

I have run the BFG G Force KDWs when I am not running R compounds or when my daughter drives. They grip decently but are very predictable. I am comfortable with them.

I have used Hoosier and Goodyear R Comps, both new and scrubs. I have purchased from both GT, Phoenix and also some NASA/SCCA racers I know. Also, I have had mixed results. Finding 19" scrubs is very hard.

I purchased mine from a guy (Rob Bodle) who runs in NASA. The tires are Goodyear Eagle RS, and the size is 275/35-18. I ran them on my GT500. I am sure that you could do a Google search for them.

Ok thanks. I was confused as the only r comps I know that fit are the pilot sport cups. Thought there might have been another option.

I haven't moved to R-comps yet, but Nitto NT-05's have been great to me for a street/track dual purpose option. I run 285's up front and 335's in the back.

I figured I'd mention them since the op has been asking for 18 front and 19 rear c6z06 non r tires. Glad to hear your feedback on the super sports.
