I am not an accountant, but I am quite certain that track fees paid to the Museum are NOT tax deductible. Charitable deductions are only deductible to the extent that the amount paid exceeds the market value of the product or service received.

You should consult with your accountant to confirm this.

Right. So if TrackDaze charged $375 for a 2 day event and NCM charged $500, $125 would be deductible; it makes some sense.

Make a vacation out of it. That is what I will be doing. Plan on a 5 hour drive south to DC, catch the Autotrain and get off the train the next morning in Sanford, FL and driving 2 hours to get to Sebring. After the event my wife and I plan on roaming around FL and SC for another 8 days and then driving home.

Looking forward to seeing you there, Bill!!

Can't you stretch your roaming out to about 2 weeks so you can run the Daytona event on April 11-12?

At any rate, if you do roam past Daytona, let me know and we'll do lunch or dinner.

Just to clarify, the NCM can't issue a donation letter for track registration, it doesn't meet IRS rules for that. However instructors are volunteers and to an extent can deduct their travel expenses to the extent permitted according to their tax situation as they are volunteering for a 501c3 nonprofit.

My initial plans were:
Drop trailer and car somewhere in FL
Hop on cruise ship 3/16, get off 3/23
Goto my Mom's place near Deerfield Beach
Spend a few days with Mom and haed to Sebring on Thursday.

Well things change, now its:
Goto port canaveral on the 15th
Get on cruise ship 3/16 - 3/23
Drive home 3/23
Drive to Mom's on Wednesday, see Mom Thursday morning for a little while and head to Sebring early afternoon. Head home Easter Sunday.
