SKF Bearings for 2009+ C6Z
For those of us who track our 2009+ C6Z's and want SKF bearings, there have been a lot of questions, but few answers. Through much pain and repeated installations, along with help from Gene and Justin at www.gmpartshouse.com (Your source for GM parts), I have some answers for you.
Anyone with a 2010+ C6Z can use the ZR1 bearings. 2009 was a transition year, so some cars may need the OEM rear bearings. The fronts are no problem. Just order the ZR1 bearings and go. The rears, if they do not have 33 splines for the axle, will need the OEM part since GM changed to active ABS in 2009 and the SKF bearings for pre2009 will not work. If you count the splines and you have 33 of them, the ZR1 bearings work. They are SKF bearings as evidenced by the stampings on the part.
NOTE: When installing the the ZR1 bearings, make sure there is enough clearance for the one recessed torx bolt so that it does not contact the heads of the wheel studs. I shortened just those bolts about 3 threads to gain enough clearance so they did not rub.
