Default Splitter to offset ZR1 spoiler?

I have a base C6 with ZR1 rear spoiler. I'm just now entertaining the world of aero and would like opinions on a "starter" front splitter. I don't have the budget for a wing or vented hood, but feel that a ZR1 style front splitter (or similar) may be worth it for starters. The front feels like it may be a bit light on fast corners and I suspect it's because of the natural lift under the hood and the air dam.

Anybody have real world experience before and after a ZR1 style (or equivalent) splitter? I'm looking for track feel, stability, improved lap times, etc.

If I go with a splitter and undertray, it seems that I would need something in the rear to balance the car. With an undertray, did any of you base C6 guys have any issues going from bottom feeder to front feeder?

And data and opinions are welcomed.

I don't have a splitter, that's what he thread is about. I only have the ZR1 rear spoiler right now.

I would only do the splitter if you also do the side skirts..with out it I believe it looks naked or off...

What ZR1 did you go with ? Official or Replica and brand ?

Good comment, but I don't really care what it looks like. I guess I should have added more info in the original post... My C6 is about 90% track duty and I'm slowly making it track only. If it doesn't make me go faster on the road course, I'm not really interested at this point. Plus, I can't justify the cost of side skirts right now - still recovering from the motor and BBK in the past 12 months.

I will post pics of the spoiler when I get home. I believe it is a Cianci (or whatever the new company is), but I bought used. Fitment not great but good enough with 2 extra mounting screws.

A couple pics of my ZR1 spoiler...

Sorry I don't have any static pics handy. I don't spend much time in the car off the track lately. The two above should give an idea of a ZR1 spoiler on a base C6.

you don't need a splitter to offset your spoiler because it isn't doing all that much anyway. Rake your car a bit more.

I thought along the same lines until my front end started feeling "floaty" only on high speed corners (at or above 100mph).

Do you have a Z06 front spring or coilovers, the stiffer front end and good shocks really helped mine feel planted at speed.

...whats better than wind tunnel data? It looks like you need to raise the back of your car up. More rake. Then add a splitter. If you can make changes at the track that would be best. Baseline car. make One change. Dont raise the rear a little then go, make a big change and see if you can feel a difference.

Ohh, we havent even got to shock settings, toe, camber, corner weight........

off topic car looks really nice. simple and clean and I like the color with black wheels.

on topic, I just destroyed my second CF splitter on my Z (another 1200 down the drain). I think my next step will be a home grown splitter with a cheesy fiber glass ACI type splitter with a undertray out of abs plastic or aluminite whatever (plus supports connect to frame). I like the new LG race splitter, but at 3k a pop, I'd cringe if I destroyed it and have to replace it. Splitters are wear and tear imo, so I think the DIY solution that I've seen others do (in the autocrossing forum) may be worth a stab.

Buy a C7 Carbon fiberglass ZR1 splitter, got my last one for $250 to my door I think. I own two and have yet to install one but it's going on shortly. Spares at $250 aren't bad! They sell the fiberglass zr1 spoiler too and that was slightly cheaper than the splitter.

PFadt gen 1 coilovers, poly bushings, camber kit, 1/32-1/16" toe out front, 1/8"toe in rear, -2.7 camber front, -1.8 camber rear.

Just learning this stuff, so suggestions are welcomed.

Car is raised about 1/2" from the bottom pic. The offset of the TSW wheels wouldn't allow it.

In my opinion, real track experience and data help more than wind tunnel info. I may be wrong, but I like hearing the experiences of others here on the forum. As said before, car is raised about 1/2" from the bottom pic. The problem with changing rake at the track is the corresponding change in camber and toe. It's not always easy to dial in camber and toe between sessions.

Good suggestion, maybe I will take corner measurements and adjust. I think a splitter will do the same thing , right?

On a seperate note, just got my LG sways today. They were the last stock suspension piece to be swapped out. Hopefully this helps out a bit.

eye balling it it looks near level so lift the rear. Then align it and set it up. Car should not be floaty at 100 mph
