Default What is required to swap an LS6 into a 2005 C6?

I thought C6 tech was the place for this question but I received a few helpful responses and the rest were "why would you do that?" questions. I don't feel like explaining why I want an LS6 in my track car. So maybe here was where I should have asked.

Aside from the cam position sensor location, will an LS6 longblock drop right in? It's a 2005 CTS-V engine so it should have the 28 tooth crank wheel. What about clutch? What about tune, it becomes less cost effective if I have to spend $500 on a tune to make it work.

Of course the oil pan, intake, etc from the LS2 will be swapped onto the LS6 to be compatible with the C6.

as long as you use the intake, maf, pan from the C6 I think it is drop in. The tune might be off, but who cares as the MAF will compensate. You can always download LS6 tables and put them in if you have access to LS2edit.

Knock sensors might be different, but you don't need those for a track car. Clutch etc is the same.

IMHO you should ditch the '05 PCM and swap in an '04!
There is nothing good about the '05 GM code and it requires you keep a bunch of crap that adds complication and weight. Get an '04 PCM makes life simpler and then rip all the extra weight out.

I'm convinced that Scary just needs to tinker with something/anything to keep his mind at peace....

And I am officially sick of even thinking about picking up a wrench.

Ha! I wish. The issue is that the C4 has to go, and the cheater motor is gold so I am not interested in letting it go with the C4, and the C6 will be forced into track duty until I have a new race car, and it's current motor will not last long...

So I am trying to do this swap so I don't have to tinker with C4's anymore! I am a bit burned out on wrenching myself.

Interesting thought, so aside from the fact that this will require a tune, is everything else the same? At least for now this will still be a street car, so I need all of the body functions, etc. I assume I need the crappy 2005 code for those things to work properly.

Bodily functions...

Sorry, thought you were building a race car. You would lose all bodily functions without some serious rewiring. The idea is you can pull all computers except for the PCM and EBCM.
