Default Tie rod ends

I figure it's time to replace - 70k Michigan miles, ~100 AutoXs, and a few track days...

Should I only worry about outer ends, or do inners take equal abuse?

Ive never had an inner fail, just not subject to the heat the outers are. And speaking of, if your aren't leaking, torn, or have excessive play, just buy spares but don't change them yet

You can test them. I like to put mine on ramps with slippy plastic (like alignment turn plates) and try moving the wheel while holding my hand around the joint. It's pretty obvious when there is movement. Or have a buddy twist the wheel if you have trouble moving it with one hand.

Why not just raise that corner of the car and grab the tire and 3 and 9?

I like to feel it with the suspension loaded and the orientation of the "wear area" of the joint they way it would be as driven.

The wear area moves a bit under droop & could tighten up a worn joint.

Of course if it's shot all to heck then either way works.

If you ever have a chance to go thru a "lot" of rod ends and feel them you would be amazed how much they vary fron loose to tight.

Not so much with Aurora & the other good brands.

When I do that and I find a couple that I can barely move by hand it's like finding "gold". I sort them right into the buy pile.

I got one of those Gatorback belts (for 10% UD) today, man that is a different looking belt, never used one b4. Thanks for those pn's.
