Default drop spindles

Does anyone have any experience adding drop spindles to their race car? If so, was there a noticable improvement in lap times?

It's something we are considering for our GT2 car, but they are not cheap!

If you have already started to change things, when you do something big like this you need to make sure the shocks are going to be correct for the car.

We have been running them on the C5 and C6 cars in World Challenge and GrandAm now since 2003, and of course sell them to the public too.

They do a number of things like increasing camber, caster, and changing bump steer on the car. The biggest thing you can do is lower the car, while not putting the control arms at a goofy angle, or running out of shock travel on bump travel.

That is the short answer anyway..

If you can afford them, they are a must. 3R originally brought Corvette drop spindles into World Challenge, and the teams that could afford them (I couldn't) had a big advantage. First drop spindles, then all-carbon bodies, then sequential transmissions......and the privateer price of entry went from $50,000 to $130,000 (assuming YOU do all of the work)

Anthony-

Do you set the car-up with the same baseline setting you had prior to drop-spindles (in terms of both damping as well as alignment), or do you really need to work on developing an entirely new baseline with drop-spindles?

Generally speaking shock valves, and spring rates would not change just by putting on the drops. Alignment settings will, as they have built in camber in them already so everything there is going to change.

Now if you are adding these along with a bunch of aero, then yes shocks/springs is going to change.
