Carolina Motorsports Park this past Friday...
After a winter fixup, I got the car tot he track Friday for an open track day.
We redid the radiator orientation, installed a new steering rack and new oil cooler and needed to get to the track to test for leaks and cooling. Happily, everything seemed to work fine. I spent 3 sessions on track with very old tires, and never exceeded 6K RPM's in case something let go, but everything worked as planned.
For the last session I decided to install the $35 surveillance camera I purchased from Ebay.
I attached one to the left corner of the splitter, and the other I attached to the wing. Amazingly, they worked pretty damn well for $35.
During that session there were only a couple of us on track. One guy had an ex-Tony Stewart Home Depot car, and he was obvioulsy having problems. I was running moderate ~1:49 laps and he was a lot slower.
Detroit Speed had their One Lap Camaro out there at the same time, and it was anything but slow. What a nice car. Bigger than an NFL lineman, but fast.
He closed up on me pretty quick, but I wasn't up for combat. I just wanted to escape the day with everything intact.

I wish I could blame it on going too fast, but that won't work!
Mac told me about the brake hose and emergency brake incidents in addition to the torque tube. Y'all had a real busy weekend!
The shakedown did show up one problem. When I got out of bed Saturday morning, my hip was killing me. The hip that was replaced last year. What had happened is that I had to buy new belts this year so I bought "pull downs" because they are FIA and last 5 years. The pull ups, which i used to have only last 3 years.
The problem with the pull downs is that the adjustment buckle is situated right between my hip and the seat, and it is sticking me in the titanium part of the hip. The pull ups adjustment buckle was not in that position. I need to find a fix for that, that will be a problem.
BTW, thank goodness yo were there or Mac would have had a long weekend!

Glad it all worked out. Nice when there are no issues, especially for the first time out for the year. I think there are track days at VIR for like this FRI - Mon if you need more track time. I am doing the ReZoom thing Fri at VIR - first time out since Sept of last year.

They last about 30 minutes on a charge and a 16gb memory card will hold at least that much. Some of the camera come with a memory card, some don't. There are huge listings for the cameras.
They record hi def video.
No special accessories. Velcro them where you want them, pull them off when you're done.
