C6 Z06 NPP trailer hitch build photos
I have been asked many times about the trailer hitch I fabricated up from a Curt C6 hitch to fit a C6 Z06.
Took quite a bit of fabrication but tows like a dream, heavy but distributes and triangulates the load unlike "some" lightweight hitches I have seen fabricated that only tie in to the thin rear bumper.
The Kurt 1380 C6 hitch didn't fit worth a darn with the Z06 NPP mufflers which are the same as the new 08+ NPP exhaust, so I made a "couple" of modifications? If I did it again I wouldnt use the Kurt hitch at all, as the muffler loop is overkill and way to heavy a stock for the load it carries and transfers.
I shortened main bar to 15 1/4" so it would sit further fwd to clear the NPP valves and disappear under the bumper. Raised the fwd. riser off the muffler loop by cutting out original piece and welding one in 4 3/16" so total is 6 3/8" Removed original aft mount and fabricated new aft mount with a 2 5/16" spacer so 3 7/8" total rise, this sets it up higher allowing the pin to clear the NPP and also make it disappear under the car when no hitch is installed.
The aft mount is curved at the plate to allow the nuts to fit and clear the mount isolators. The giant hole you fish the bolts in through is under the riser, had to use safety wire put the bolts in the big hole thin fish into the mount holes.
This is posted in the road racing section for a reason. Please no comments about how you would never put a hitch on your waxer.

Cool! People make fun of my trailer setup on my C5 but when I went to the last Chin event at Sebring I passed a silver C6 Z heading down pulling a trailer too. We both were laughing when I went by.
Do you attend Chin events?

Nice job to make it work on the aluminum frame Z06.
For the C6 steel frame guys, here's the lightweight one for towing tires and tools. Not recommended for Z's or towing boats.

Doing some research on trailers for my 2012 Grand Sport with NPP. This post helps.
