Default Airbag removal? How to safely?

Guys,
I am removing all my airbags and want to do it safely.

2006 C6 LT3

unplug the battery to the car

then what???

I know this has been discussed but i could not find it.

I unplugged them and pulled them. Perhaps I got lucky.

Probably overkill, but here's what I always do:

Disconnect battery.
Pull fuses.
Apply brake to kill any remaining juice in the system.
Pull air bags.

On my 05' there are four holes in the back of the wheel behind the airbag. Use a thin flat blade screwdriver and put in each hole. It will hit a release in each one. Give it a little push and pull on the corner of the airbag that corresponds with the hole you are working in. Do all four and it pops right out. Inside, the electrical connections just pop off. If you want I can take a picture of mine which is removed so you can see the release tabs.
