Default Drove a McLaren MP4-12C at Hallett

Got to drive a friends new McLaren MP4-12C at Hallett yesterday. What a blast. Car had Hoosier R6's. Lap times are a bit faster than my 2008 C6 Z06. I was driving around 7/10 and doing low 1:23.2s. Impressive car.

Before I went on track he said, "have fun, I trust you and know you're good for it". At the time I thought he meant good for putting in some good laps. However, sitting here today I wonder if he meant something else....

I see these at Homestead Speedway quite often and I gotta say they they are quick! Gorgeous cars as well, wish I could have one in my garage.

Lucky you! Sir Mix-a-lot owns one and is ALWAYS at the exotic shows. That'd be unreal to race one!

Yeah, my comment was written tongue-in-cheek. I sort of figured tht's what he meant.....

The owner drove my Z06 the same day. I don't track my Z06 since I bought a race car so he was on street tires with ceramic brake pads. He was very impressed with the car and was surprised with the handling and power. He stated he had no idea they were such a capable car and has a new found appreciation for the car. He had nothing but great things to say about the Z. Not your typical exotic owner's attitude.

BTW, how do you like the Hardbar harness bar I sold you?

I believe someone posted a video or two of the car on YouTube. Do a search on McLaren and Hallett.

Here's the link.

The owner is driving.

On a sidenote, I was more impressed with the transmission than the suspension. Remarkable. Not to downplay how nicely the suspension worked but the transmission contributes greatly to good lap times. I left it in automatic and believe the computer did a better job than I could have with the paddles. It left nothing on the table. Very aggressive programming.
