Default Got to sit in the C6R Yesterday!!!

Hey guys,

I was fortunate to meet Dave Marin, one of the pit crew on the #4 car via instagram a while back. He was kind enough to take the time to talk me through the car's systems, and eventually let me sit in the car right after morning warmups on Saturday! As you can see, it's a bit tricky getting a 6"2 230lb man into the driver's seat of one of these things! He even turned the car on for me and let me navigate the different screens, and the onboard sonar system! Great weekend for myself and for Corvette Racing!

They pair sonar technology with a rear-mounted camera to detect and identify the quicker P1, P2, and PC cars approaching them. It was cool because even sitting in the paddock, the system was detecting the motion of people passing by the camera

Thats SO AWESOME you got to sit in that car!
You can see that screen from the inboard camera while they race and see the highlighted cars behind them. As far as I know Corvette Racing is the only crew with that system.

It's not sonar but radar. You can see it in action near the end of this video as Tommy Milner tests at Sebring. Pretty cool stuff.
