Default Signed up for my first track day at Hallett

I signed up for my first track day at Hallett doing their High Speed Touring Series. I'll be driving my '10 GS 6MT.

I ordered some Motul RBF600 and some Motive items to help with the flushing/bleeding process. I have been contemplating ordering some track pads. I've read the stock pads will work but will wear fast. I'm not even sure how much meat is left on my current pads. Was looking at the ST43 pads. Any more thoughts on this? stock vs ST43.

Track day is 9/28 for HST. Anyone else going?

Are you going to be using these pads for track only? Or you looking for a street & track pad?

More than likely will only use them for track and then switch back to street/stock pad after the event is over. Probably will drive to and from the track with the track pads in though. Especially after reading how noisy the ST-43 setup might be.

The guys with the ST43 padlets say they squeal like crazy. I and everyone I've ever read of using the ST43 has absolutely loved them though. Get some rotors and swap them too so you don't have to constantly rebed street and track pads.

My ST-43s don't squeak at all.

Hallett is very hard on brakes. IMO a c6z06 would likely cook the stock pads and fluid quick; I would only consider going on track pads and good fluid.

Installed the Raybestos ST43 pads this morning. First time changing pads on the Vette and it was a cake walk. I didn't remove pins after reading stories of them stripping/heads breaking off. I just removed the two caliper bolts. Very easy. Took me about an hour and half taking my time and double checking the write up I was following.

Drove the car down the street. No noise at first. Went into a neighborhood to turn around and they woke up. Car sounds like a freight train coming to a stop. They are as extremely/embarrassingly loud as mentioned on the forum. Went to get some groceries and the cart pusher said "I think there's something wrong with your brakes."

Following this guide: http://www.essexparts.com/learning-c.../swapping_pads to get the rotors cleaned and then I will bed them.

Was supposed to get my brake fluid flushed out to RBF600 this past Friday but the dealership's machine had a leak. Hoping to get the full flush (ABS included) Thursday. If not, I will just bleed/replace the fluid myself and not worry about the ABS this go around.

Flushed in 3.5 L of RBF600 on my own using a writeup found on CF. Only used that much to make sure I got out all of the old fluid in the reservoir. Also flushed out the clutch fluid with RBF600.

Terrorized Tulsa with the brakes squealing today and part of yesterday.

Hoping it doesn't rain that much tomorrow.

See whoever is going to be there tomorrow. I'll be in my Cyber Gray Grand Sport with the loudest brakes.

It wasn't too hard to tell where you were at on track Saturday. Those pads are crazy noisy!

Yeah they are ridiculous. I will be sure to do a proper bed in before the next event and hopefully that helps.

Was the yellow C6Z06 yours? Or was it one of those C5Z06s? That C6Z06 was crazy fast around the track.

I had a blast even having the embarrassingly loud brakes and rain. I progressively got faster. First time at Hallett.

So I ended up ordering a set of OEM rotors to use just for track days along with the ST43 pads. I plan to properly bed them together and then set them aside just for track days.

My current rotors will need to be cleaned of any ST43 transfer material and then they will be run with some cheap AZ ceramic pads daily.

Can't wait to go back!
