2005, or 2006 and up chassis?
I remember hearing, or reading somewhere that there are reasons not to build a track car on an '05 C6 chassis; to make sure you get an '06 or newer. Problem is, I cannot remember why.
Anyone care to explain?

As far as I know there is no difference unless you are talking a steel frame VS the aluminum Z06 frame. The Z06 frame is lighter and tougher to attach a roll cage to. Both are VERY sturdy designs.

05 is an oddball.
There is something with the trans/diff mounts that is different - not exactly sure.
It doesn't have CAN bus, which can be an issue when adding a datalogger.
There might be other stuff.

05 oddities
When I went to update to 2008 differential and RSG trans. in my
C5 Z06 I used a 2005 cradle since it would accept my C5 lower control arms. I was already switching to coil overs but if I wanted to use a transverse spring I would have to use an 06/up cradle and lower control arms because the spring would interfere with the shocks.
Another item I needed was the offset differential mounts.
