NCM Motorsports Park Update #10 - 12/23/13
Merry Christmas from the Corvette Museum and the Motorsports Park!
A ton of progress has been made on the MSP, not the least of which is the hiring of general manager Mitch Wright. Mitch brings a wealth of expertise and experience so broad that many of us are wondering how we got this far without him. A Director of Racing at both the SCCA and Miller Motorsports Park, a professional racer, racecar builder, karting expert and General Manager at New Orleans Motorsports Park (which he helped build), Mitch is a great fit for the project. You can read more about Mitch at:
http://www.motorsportspark.org/2013/...neral-manager/
On the construction side, the track grading is completed, the pit wall has been completed, more than half the project has been seeded and strawed, the utilities are being installed and the graveling of the paddock is about one third finished.
One tidbit: The initial 16 acre paddock will include 20,000 tons of rock, which is over 800 truck loads!
Here is the first aerial from earlier today, with more to come in a few days. Enjoy!

West Track = 1 mile
Combined Circuit = 3.15 miles
All will be completed by Labor Day.
Phase II is undetermined, but an additional 204 acres presents a ton of options.

Because you don't lay asphalt or concrete directly on top of dirt, unless it may be hard dirt, which this looks like the loose red clay dirt you find in TN.

The asphalt is specifically formulated for this site by one of the best geo-technical engineering firms in the country, and every step of the paving will be monitored in order to get the best result.
