Default Recommend me tires

Street-tire SCCA autocross using the 18"x10.5" C5 wheels all around. No slicks, minimum UTOQ of 140. I'd like a 275 front/295 rear....ideas? (I'm going to be a noob, so take it easy on me...)

I read where SCCA going to a 200 tread wear rating tire in 2015. You might want to think about how that will work for you in Street Tire. You may wind up running a 140-ish tire this year and then have to switch for next year.

If you can use a 140 tire, look at:
Bridgestone RE-050, S-02, S-01
Hankook Ventus R-S3
Toyo Proxes R1R

You should be able to find good tires with a 200 rating like:
BFG G-Force Rival (200)
Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 (200)
Dunlop Dizerra Star Spec ZII (200)
Michelin Pilot PS2 (220)
Nitto NT-05 (200) This would be a very good choice for you as it will work great for track days too. Not the best rain tire tho....

It may be hard to find specific sizes in these brands and models so you will have to check out the websites for size information.

But if this is your first year doing autocross events, you may just want to use stock tires and wheels. Learn what autocross is all about and get SEAT TIME!! Then you can start to work on car setup, tires, and other mods. Seat time is the best mod you can do for the first year.

My first thought was the NT05, and ya, seat time...I get that. I would use my regular tires, but they are too expensive to eat up for fun.

NT01's and R888's will be better for autocross or the track than a NT05.

Not sure, if you can find the appropriate sizes though.

What's the rating on those though?

If you are doing a whole season & practices I would think you'll use up a set a year, so I would use 140 for 2014 and 200 for 2015 unless you want to give up the 2014 trophies/jacket to someone else.

If you are in a C5 you can't run 18x10.5 up front and stay in street tire class. You can only change diameter, not wheel width as the draft rules are currently written. Unless I am missing something.

Having said that, the Rival should be on to of your tie to have list.

Hmmm...very interesting! I've already swapped to C6-Z brakes, so the 17's will no longer fit. Other than bolt-ons, I've got no added power, so I'll get killed in prepared, or the like. Mostly, I'm just looking to have fun, and push my car, and myself...should I just get some A6 Hoosiers, and just have a good time? If I decide to run slicks, I'm sure I'll start stressing other components, no?

^^ With the mods, you go to sp, asp I do believe. If you are new, run streets for a year before going to R's. You will learn more as street tires won't mask your mistakes like R's will. Streets can be and are a lot of fun.

Now your talking. Hoosiers A6's are the only way to go. The front upper control arm bushings are your only worry. When they get worn out, buy T1 upper control arms.

I want to replace my two rear tires that are run flat. Can I put NON -Run flat in the rear a keep Run flat in the front.

Now that I did! RF aka ZP (Zero Pressure) tires were fine and dandy for those situations, but they are loud and didn't handle worth beans compared to the Michelin Super Sports (I had the Michelin Pilot A/S+ ZP'S first, which is allegedly the best of the breed of run-flats). As of now, my car will out handle me.

A6's will certainly improve traction, but I don't really consider A6's to be street-use tires. Unless ou can find a set of scrubs, new A6's will be expensive

You should figure out how to get the tires to the event, bolt 'em and run, then take them off to get home. Maybe a friend with a pickup who will haul the tires, attach a trailer hitch and get one of those small HF trailers or if you have a pickup rent a U-Haul car trailer.

I didn't mean for you to drive on them everyday. Just for racing. I drive 140 miles round trip to the events with the Hoosiers. That's not a problem. I just wouldn't use them for a DD.

I'm not really sure that mixing run flats and non run flats is a good practice.
