California racing Fuel question
What is the octain rating of the race fuel that is available at the local tracks? I picked some up at a local station and was surprised when they said that they can put it in street cars, then I noticed that it is 100 octain. Is this as high as it gets in CA? Is it high enough for performance tuned engine.
Thanks,
Charley

Isn't race gas formulated differently that what you get at gas stations? I thought race gas doesn't have the detergents (or the ethanol for that matter) that street gas does.
In Canada, you can get 94 octane with no ethanol at many stations. But it does cost something like $1.56 per liter That's about $6.25 a gallon.
Maybe CA has different rules for race gas that's for "off-road purposes"?

Every track I have visited from California to Florida has different grades and suppliers.
May want to call the engine builder and see what he recomends.
Got a load about 6 months ago that was 98 unleaded, but it had a bunch of lead in it as shown by oil analisis. Suspect it was aviation 100LL?
Call the track and see who the supplier is, and what grades they carry.
By the way at Daytona it was like $8.75 for 98 octane and $14 for 116 leaded.

Thanks guys. I called the radical dealer and they confirmed that they use the 100 race fuel... So the race gas at the local station should be fine.
Thanks for the help.
