Default C5 motor mounts

It's basically a track car now, I doubt it will see much street this year...

Texas speed long tubes, no cats, cammed, 435 RWHP.
I am concerned about melting and knock sensor issues... What is everyone using these days?

Thanks

I put the Hinson ones in mine when I had the oil pan off. I don't think they are as hard as the Pfadt ones were. Couldn't tell that big a difference with new, but stock ones were about gone anyway.

I sent off an email to Hindson, thanks!
I was going to make solids but, read somewhere that the knock sensors may pick up false knock if the mounts are too stiff.. Hopefully these won't be a problem
You are running long tubes? Do you run a shield to protect them from heat?

Hinson is the way to go. Use the heat shields from your factory mounts. If you dont have them, just wrap them in heat tape.

I make my own aluminum solid ones.

Works great.

You wouldn't happen to have your mount height dimension handy, would you? I am about to make some from aluminum roundstock. I assume you replace the hydraulic portion and keep the factory aluminum brackets which bolt to the block, right?

Has anyone tried the engine mounts from MTI Racing?

If you go solid, you might render your knock sensors useless. At least that is what I have heard.
I have a set of delrin mounts, which is a pretty ideal material. Knock sensors still work, but the mounts are no longer available (from a small Canadian shop, I think).

Yes I keep brackets on the engine. I'll measure it for you when I get back home, not sure on the knock sensors, I have a feeling some do some don't.

You can also lower the engine about 1/3" as well like some other offerings for dropped mounts without worrying about hitting anything

They look nice but that's a lot of design for something that can be replaced by a round metal puck with a hole drilled through it. Have you seen Greg's on the blue car? That's what I plan to replicate with about $4 worth of aluminum and a drill press.

Although doing the same thing with delrin seems like a good idea, too. Shouldn't be too hard to find a round bar of it.

And BOOM goes the dynamite. 1 ft of 3" delrin round stock is $252!

Think I like aluminum again...

No, I haven't. Looks like there are plenty of ideas floating around though.

Would lower engine mounts make any noticeable difference with lower center of gravity? The MTI one knocked off 1/2in, that seems like a good bit.

The min/max temps on that delrin don't seem very impressive. 30f-180f?

If you are shopping materials for mounts, US Plastics is pretty good. I use them for odds and ends.

In the BMW community people have started using UHMW. Doubt that's really new, but it's another idea.

Acetron/delrin

UHMW
