Default Autocross Video. PCA event. 4/6/2014.

The Porsche GT3 was to much for me today. I drove the best I could, and practically blew up the motor in one spot on the rev-limiter, but didn't stand a chance. Looks like I'm going to have to turn on the garage lights now and figure this one out. 2nd. overall out of 115 cars.

Nice . Where do you have the rev limiter set? How far off the GT3 were you?

Hi Bill,

Thanks. Its stock. 6500rpm. The GT3 had me by .9 tenths. He had new tires, I had 9 lap old ones. I would call that even. I'm going to try a smaller front sway bar. 35mm down to a 32mm. I have to wait to long for the car to rotate.

Steve, don't break that motor!
Seems like this course happened to be disadvantageous for your gearing, that's all. Toss the Porsche guys a bone once in a while at "their" event.

If you are still on the stock balancer, keep an eye on it.

For the balancer, a leak from the front main crank seal all the way to the nut and balancer walking off the crank "snout".

Mine leaked, I had a guy fix it & then his "fix" failed & the nut came off, so I finally did it myself. There is video on my YT channel.

Spinning the stock motor up to the limiter is (more or less) asking for it as the stock balancer is pretty crappy. ATI is the good one. But not for stock autox class.

Mine went at about 50k miles.

Here's something interesting. I had a big noise on the left rear of the car. No cone count, plus I was way past the cones on the right. ???????

At first I thought yea, thats just gearing but it was just the gt3 is faster. You had such a smoother run. He had at least another second or two in his run, but if his best time was the first run then it was all tires. His throttle control was all over the place.... Better first run than I could do but still...

Dont know about that sound maybe a rock getting thrown into the wheel well?

I'm thinking you'd be faster on that course by going to 3rd a couple of times. I'm pretty sure the GT3 did toward the beginning but then failed to through the slalom.

Nice run as always.

73mph. He changed the trans to have lower gearing in second.

Hmmm. I would think 73 is about perfect for those fast pca courses.

Default cone hit?

Dumb question. Anything in a rear compartment? I was on track once and kept hearing a bump sound from my front passenger side on nearly every sharp turn. Turns out it was my GPS unit in the glove box.

Nothing in the car. But good thought.
