I have a 1969 matching #'s 427 coupe for sale in Roanoke, Virginia. It has a 4 speed M21 with 3.36 posi rear. It is a t-top car. Very good (7-8) Daytona Yellow paint, with black leather interior. It is a true sidepipe car. There were only 4455 ( I believe that's the correct #) sidepipe cars made in '69 and that was for both small blocks and big blocks. So I'm sure there aren't many original sidepipe cars left. Especially big blocks. Power brakes, tinted glass. Manual steering, as I prefer. (not as squirrely, you gotta hang on to this monster!!!)
The tank sticker is gone but I have a good clean Va. title.
I have almost $15,000 in receipts. The motor is newly rebuilt with just 900 shake down miles on it. 30 over forged pistons, roller rockers, Comp Cam #11-242-20. That's a XE268H-10 Nitrided Camshaft. 2.190" intake and 1.880" exhaust, stainless steel, Manley valves. 750 CFM Dbl pump Holley carb. Also rebuilt. We/I used quality parts throughout this whole process. The engine and tranny were both rebuilt by Terry Walters Precision Engines, Inc. in Roanoke, Va. This shop has a very, very , good reputation and has been in business since the 60's. Terry built, broke-in and dynode the motor. I wanted to make sure it would be "right" !!! And believe me it is. It's a beast putting out 450 HP and more importantly, 500 ft. lbs. of torque throughout the powerband!! Of course that's flywheel HP, not to the ground, but that's still puttin' it out!!!
Other high points about the car- newer( previous owner) leather interior, chrome rally wheels, completely rebuilt front end, including springs, brakes, all new parking brakes with stainless steel hardware and cable, rebuilt carb., starter, odometer, new wiper motor and with correct arms, New drivers side rear wheel bearings. The list is just overwhelming- horn parts, vacuum system parts, window rollers, gauges, centerforce clutch, new steering gear box and rag joint. Door jam switches, glove box and light, new pedal rubber, 50 trips to the local hardware!!! Exhaust manifold paint from Eastwood, newer exhaust including manifolds done by previous owner. tune-up parts, tail lens, sun visors, Edelbrock air gap intake manifold, battery.
I could go on and on with the new parts list but you get the idea. I have been ALL OVER this car and if it needed it, it got it. Here is a new motor, tranny, frontend, interior, very good paint, just to name the major systems, ready to be driven. And an honest seller!! Asking a fair and reasonable price to sell- 39,950K OBO.

Car now has 700 miles on new motor. Just checked gas mileage. I got 14 MPG doing 60 MPH most of the time. Pretty good for a 427 !!! That's what a 3.36 rear end gear will do for ya!! Yet it still has PLENTY of power around town.
A little background on the hood. The "STINGER" hood I have on my vette came on my car when I bought it. It was a very popular add on part in the 70's. Originally, someone had the idea of taking the scoop part of a C-2 corvette and molding it to a C-3 hood. It was so popular that a company called Legendary Fiberglass, now called Fast Glass, produced 2 models. They are/were in PA. The Phase III, as they called it, #H-14A and the H-14L88. The L88 model had a air box built into it. It was sold out of the "motion" catalog and sold by Motion and Nickey Chevrolet in Pa. Bet a Chevy dealer couldn't get away with that now!!!! It's a nice alternative to what everybody else has and a classy look while showing the air cleaner a little makes it look like the motor is jumping out of the car!!!!

I bought this car last Sept. I flew down to Kissimee, Fl., bought the car, and proceeded to drive it home. That is Roanoke, Va. The motor spun #8 cylinder rod bearing 75 miles into the trip home!!! $1000 and a U-haul truck and trailer later- it was home. I pulled the motor and tranny and had them both rebuilt by the best engine builder around here. That is Terry Walters Precision Engines. His reputation is that he isn't the cheapest but he his the best. Being a matching #'s motor, I didn't want any issues with the build. I wanted it done right the first time. He did the machining, assembly, broke-in the motor and dyno tested it.
I have been buying and fixing up cars, trucks, and Harleys' since I was 16 years old. I am 56 now. My last project was a 1952 Chevy pickup. It turned out great. I have spent close to $15,000 fixing this vette. There isn't any area of the car that hasn't "seen" me and my investigating eye. I've thoughly gone over this car from top to bottom and fixed or replaced as I went. I also tried to use the "correct" parts whenever possible. Hope this answered your question.

Thanks Roger. Vette is going into body shop Mon., 7-7-14, to get the hood painted. The worst, and just about only, scratches on the entire car are on the hood. When I bought it , the right side hood hinge was missing. Seems the PO had a hard time adjusting hood and was jerking up on the hood scoop to get it to open. It caused some minor imperfections in the paint around the stinger hood. So small actually, that you can't even see 'em in the pics. The top section of the scoop (only) will be black like the C-3's used to do it. Should make the scoop stick out a little bit and break up the yellow at the same time. Should look good with the black leather interior and continues the theme of blending the two generations ( C2 hub caps ). I gotta tell ya, I'm beginning to get attached to this car as driving it is quite a blast !!!! The "plan" is to up the price after Carlisle to get it more in line with the market value, and just enjoy it for awhile. The current price was intended for a quick sell, and to be honest, that is not happening. I'm afraid the price might be giving the impression of low quality, which just isn't the case. Looking forward to seeing you in Carlisle, if not before.

You may be on to something about keeping it and driving it. You went to Fla. to get it, had a crappy experience, got the motor doe by the right guy. Don't give it away. So kick back after one last try at Carlisle and if nothing else you have a great car and you know everything about it. Once I finish mine use it sell it, then you can lower the price so I can consider it. I;am kidding a little. Good Luck, see ya up in PA.
