WTB: Needle in Haystack. 69-72 convertible Black/Saddle trim
Mornin' all. New to this forum; happy to be here.
Been lookin' high & low for a 69-72 convertible (prefer 69) with original black exterior saddle interior (prefer leather) trim package. Would also prefer big block engine with more than standard 350 hp.
This will be an occasional driver car so the "buy it and hang it on a wall" concept is totally lost on me; not to mention on my wallet.
Speaking of my wallet, I can't drop massive coin on the car, and have the ability to (or, rather, I know people that can) restore, so a project Vette is not out of the question as long as the frame/birdcage are solid and it's not a total ground-up restoration.
Thx in advance!!

Just to help your search, black was not offered as a Corvette color from 1970-1976, so the 70-72 is not possible.
Original black Corvettes (code 900 cars) usually bring a bit of a premium, especially triple black roadsters. The saddle interior cars are scarce as well. Good luck.
(I found many of the '69 black cars I looked at were originally Fathom Green)

Thx guys. Totally blanked on code 900 black not being offered 70-72. Code 988 Steel Cities Gray is a worthy alternative for those years. So I'm expanding my search to include this exterior color.
Saw a black/saddle with a saddle soft top. Awesome look IMO.
1960fi, your '68 black/tobacco roadster sounds right up my alley, but I'm a sucker for marketing and dig the Stingray badge.

Cats,
Not to dash your hopes, but, it really IS a difficult combo to find. I've looked for several years now. As mentioned, many 983 cars turned into 900s. Speaking of which, would the knowledgeable forum members please chime in on the validity of this 1969 Trim Tag? Beside the obvious incorrect rivets?
Doesn't look to be correctly positioned either. I was told removed/replaced when painted in the late 80's early 90's.
Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread. If you want to follow up on a few coupes, PM me privately please.

Just ran across a 427 '69 black/black roadster that looks like it needs some heavy interior work, among other things. Now starts the fun of trying to price specific back-end restoration work so I don't get jacked on the front-end purchase price.
