Default FS:1968 stingray convertible Barn find 57,000 miles

Here is a 1968 Corvette Convertible barn find....I bought this car with intentions of rebuilding, however I am being sent out of the state and I have no place to keep it. The is a REAL barn find that was just pulled out of the barn recently, the car has original 55,541 miles DOCUMENTED,..This car was RUNNING when parked,..The motor could be numbers matching, not sure. This is a GREAT car to restore, The car will need a full restoration to be show quality, however it all there and the fiberglass body is in great shape with no major damage. However doors were seized on the locks and the PO broke the door opening it..although both doors are in bad shape the fiberglass is good. Also I have the ability to get two very good doors.

This car is a 327 3 speed Auto car with Power Brakes, Power steering, Power windows, 4 wheel disc brakes, The car has BOTH tops with the Rare option of vinyl covering,..The soft top is ALMOST PERFECT!,..frame will need repair in the usual areas, other than those areas the frame has survived 20 years with normal surface rust.

I am also getting close to starting the engine, rotates smooth, I may have to replace the starter before it will start ( ill know tomorrow)

I have many PICS if needed

Again, this is a project car, but these cars finished are selling for $30,000 to $60,000. And they are getting more rare each day.

ALSO:,..I have a 1990 ZR1 LT5 ENGINE that I was going to install in this car.

LT5 ALL aluminum 4 cams, 32 valves. 375+ horsepower.. This motor is a running 56,000 mile monster that was cleaned, all the parts media blasted and then powder coated EXTREME CHROME.
this motor is very limited and hard to find,..Just go on ebay and check it out!.

I really dont want to sell the engine, however this would make an AWESOME C3 corvette project. That would be worth north of $70,000. The only word I have heard of a C3 with an LT5 sold for $82,000 and it was a 1969.. I have never seen a 1968 LT5 conversion.

I am willing to sell the engine for $6,400 and the car for $8,700

Prices are firm, but I am willing to bend SLIGHTLY..If i dont sell them,I will pay for a storage unit.

Thanks for your time guys

I'm interested in the engine, where in New York are you? Is there and ECU with the engine?

What does "could be numbers matching" mean? Could you look?

I looked on the passenger-side head forward face for numbers and see no numbers. So I am not sure if I am not seeing them correctly or it is a different engine.

Hi O,
A 68 convertible is a desirable car.
I believe you need to determine what the engine presently in the car is.
That information will likely affect what buyers would be interested in this car and what they may be willing to pay for it!
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

The pad is not on the head. It's on the block in front of the RH head.
