Unfortunately I think you need to see the car in person. I see no pics of the engine pad either. The bid was only a bit over $20k. I surprised the seller would sell the car for that if it is as advertised.
Just my 2 cents.
I would want to go over the car and check all the numbers/dates and see good pics of the pad.

OK, I see a partial pic of the pad. I see no broach marks. I did not get from your post you were looking to have someone look at the car. There are many folks available to do that, but you will need to hire someone (a reputable someone) if you want an opinion worth anything.

Be careful of people selling something already listed as sold on e-Bay.

Hi Bruce,
It's pretty unusual for a real, and nice, LT-! to be sold for less than it's value.
This seller seems to use all the right words in describing the car but the pictures don't (in my eyes) show the car he describes.
Just the fact that the AIR equipment is missing and different shifter in place makes me think this car may have not always been someone's LT-! pride and joy.
It could be close…. maybe those are the ONLY things missing… or maybe not.
What are you looking for in an LT-! ?
What sort of money is the seller talking about?
Regards,
Alan

I think I'd contact Drew Papsun who collects LT-! information and see if he has any history on this vin number.

Hi Alan

thanks for reply , he would sell for approx. 20 or maybe a bit less. He says he has the original shifter and ignition wiring harness. I am not looking to spend top dollar but would like something not rotted and that has all the right parts .

How can I reach Drew Papsun.

thanks Bruce Black

Depending on condition and "original" parts, $20k seems a bit low for an LT-1. Maybe $10k +/- below market. Be careful.

Hi Bruce,
I agree with revi…. a 72 LT-! that 'appears' as that one does in pictures, would likely have a greater value than "around $20,000".
Somethings up!
Again I agree with revi…. BE CAREFUL on this one.
Think about it this way…. if this was even a $35,000 car (and a nice 72 LT-! could be), but the owner needed 1/2 that in cash TODAY!!!! the car carrier of one of the larger corvette emporiums would be in front of this fellow's driveway right now!
It seems to me that when a car is priced way too HIGH it's because the owner is unrealistic about what he has ("one just like it sold at mecum for $90,000")…. when a car is priced way too LOW it's because there's something up with the car, (" I made a mistake and I need to get out from under this dog").
Regards,
Alan

Appears to have looked like this before the restoration?

http://www.c3registry.com/index.php?...te&car_id=7134

If the c3 registry is accurate, it states mileage was 68106. Ebay ad says the mileage is 98620 so about 30,000 miles have been put on the car since the accident. If you are serious have some one check to see how the restoration was done but I don't understand the hood paint fading so quickly if that is the car on the registry. Lot of questions.

Default My 2 cents....

My 2 cents, you never know until you go look.

If you like what you hear on the phone and what you see in lots of photos, for that kind of money, it is worth a plane ticket to Miami and or pay a knowledgeable person to inspect.

At the worst case, you get a free vacation to Florida in Dec.

And why exactly, would only the hood demonstrate paint fade? Probably only if they had to reprint the entire rest of the car.

I know the VIN is the same, but there sure are a lot of differences in equipment. The wrecked one had power windows, radio delete and standard column while the eBay car had a radio, T & T wheel and roll up windows. Looks like a different car with the same VIN. As others have said, run Forest run.
