Might I suggest that you look at Alclad Chrome paint? You need an airbrush but what you do is paint the wheels black and then top it off with the Alclad Chrome. Super realistic!!!!

(They have other finishes as well including blueing to simulate chrome exhausts)

More detail is here:

Another good alternative is Duplicolor Wheel Paint in Chrome. Make sure it is comatible on the wheels. It is in a spray bomb so is less onerous and is also VERY good.

I`ll second formula1. I haven`t used it personally, though I have heard many times that the results are very close to chrome.
Another option is spaztix, which yields excellent results. Make sure the surface is glossy though, and use light mist coats. I have used this before straight from the spray can. Done right, this is also very close to kit chrome.
You could also send them out to a place like chrometech, or littlemotorkar co. They can make the parts look just as good, if not better, than kit chrome. I have used Littlemotorkar and they have a relatively fast turn around time (2-3 weeks). You can reach Dale at lmkco@outlook.com.

I'll second that! I've used Chrome Tech USA for all my plastic chroming needs for over 15 years. Use Alclad if you want "close to chrome", but if you want chrome go with Chrome Tech. I met Bob from Chrome Tech at a model show several years ago and he has a real passion for the model building hobby.

Geez, do I sound like a TV commercial for Chrome Tech or what?!

OK - that's 3 votes for Chrome Tech!

I've used them several times and have been very happy with the results...

Here are the wheels they did for me for my 1/12 Hot Wheels that I refinished to replicate my real DSOM car at the time...

Here are some examples of what Chrome Tech has done for me:

1/8-scale Deuce roadster...

1/16-scale Peterbilt wrecker...

1/16-scale Peterbilt 351...

I'm not sure. I thought I made those by using the centers from a set of deep daisies and a set of outer rings but I might've bought them that way. I can't remember what I had for lunch today let alone how those wheels came about 15 years ago. I made that deuce back in 1999 or 2000 from 1/8 '32 kit I found in an antique store.
