It has no Serialnumber and Seller writes :

"This is a rare preproduction artist proof sample, serial number AP/427"

Has anybody ever heard of tis kind or is it a fake ?

I have some un-numbered ltd Franklin Mint 1/24's. (Not Corvettes).

The Mint produced some extra cars, without numbers, for warranty replacement. Not sure if this is the case here.

I have one of the numbered cars. I have not heard of any special addition cars that the series was numbered but there were units that were not numbered.

Ok, so if it is real, does it make it more worth then the official numbered models ? And how many would exist ?

Thanks

Info on this edition:

"Note: Additionally, 12 "Artist's Proof" models were struck and a small number of reversely painted cars, black with gold instead of gold with black, were made. Diecast Reproductions may be contacted at 813-882-8482"

Hello Everybody,

I just saw this post. The FM car in question is 100% legitimate. They did 527 of the FM Apollo Corvettes with (exactly 12) "reverse" paint versions. I had a reverse paint in my collection that I sold several years ago for $3,000+. Whoever got this car for a grand got a very GREAT deal. http://www.jetsvettes.com for my collection info.

Hey Bruce, does anything besides the card from FM indicate that it would be an "artist's proof"? I agree if would be a steal at $1000 if it were a reverse paint version. If there's something different about the car itself to show it's different than the regular 427 made I wonder what it is?
