How 2 tie down C5 on a trailer???
Finally decided to get a 20 ft non-enclosed trailer for the C5 just to make racing a little easier. The trailer is from BigTex and will have 4 D-Rings on it 2 in front and 2 in back. It is being built now.
I have never tied a Vette to a trailer so I need some advise. What kind of straps are best? Should I put axle wraps on the A-arms, use wheel webs or attach at the lifting pockets? I have not purchased any cargo control straps yet because I'm not sure whats best to buy yet.
Some of you guys have done this and I have not. What's the best way to tie the car down?

On an open trailer over the wheel straps work fine but only if you have a third set of D-rings in the middle. In your case I'd use T-hook connectors in the factory slots and cross them under the car. Don't use the A-arms or other suspension parts to secure the car.

Don't use axle straps. I use Mack's straps with J hooks (some guys use R hooks) at the ends. There are 4 holes in the frame that you can attach them to (that's where they belong). Look under the rocker panels and you'll see them. Just aft of the front wheels and right before the rear wheels. There are also two holes that can be used to strap her down above the exhaust but you have to be extremely careful not to burn yourself on the pipes. Always cross the straps.

I use the 12,000# straps from Home Depot. Attach J hooks and use the lifting points under the sides of the car as Paul described.
I strap the rear to the front hooks and the front to the rear hooks and tighten the front straps first to bring the car into the front wheel stops.
It is not necessary to cross the straps under the car.

REDGAR I also want to thank you, the Snapping Turtle site is one I had not found before and they have some great stuff. I ordered one of the GM style T-Hooks. If it fits right I will order 3 or 4 more of them.
Thanks for the help guys.

try www.awdirect.com for all kinds of hooks and towing stuff. I got my straps from Summit Racing. They are 8 foot long and have the larger handle. A 6 ft strap from the under frame slots to the d ring on a typical 17 foot trailer may not be long enough, espcially if you want to cross the straps. Too long of a strap and you'll just end up tying a big fat pretty bow each time...I am usually too tired at the end of the day to do that extra work.
