Default Another Dragstrip Closes its Gates...

Found at the Inyokern Dragstrip website:

October 4, 2005
UPDATED - 26-Sep-05
Inyokern Drags 1954 - 2005!!!

Due to new public flying safety requirements imposed on the Inyokern Airport by the Federal Aviation Administration, the Inyokern Dragstrip has cancelled the remainder of the 2005 season and has officially closed its gates. The track personnel are working with the NHRA and other track managers to move the scheduled Junior ET Bracket Finals to another track. Racers who have already registered will be notified as soon as the decision on the new location of the finals is reached. The Inyokern Dragstrip would like to thank all of the racers, fans and volunteers whose support had kept them in business for all of these years.

This development forced the postponment of the October 16th West Coast Corvette Challenge due to the Junior Dragster Finals being relocated to LACR on our event date.

It seems the value in the property is greater developed then it is raced on. This will continue until the real estate boom slows to a crawl. Give the feds another 4 months and the real estate boom will cool down.

Amazing that they are trying to keep racers off the street, yet they continue to close the racetracks.

The track is located at the Inyokern Airport in Inyokern, CA. just past the Interstate 395 and Highway 178 intersection. The track has been around since around 1953 with first race in 1954...the track history is at the link below:

Inyokern Dragstrip History

I don't know the exact details of the FAA issues or decision to close the track, but since it is on part of the airport property, I'm sure the FAA doesn't need a valid reason. I don't know if there is any attempt being made to reverse the FAA decision. If I find out any more details, I'll post them.

It's just another government plot to keep people indoors.
Next they will shut down bars in the publics intrest, against drunk drivers.
I do believe Hittler tried all this once.
One of our drag strips got shut down this year on Oahu.
The houses could be sold for more if they did not have all the noise.
I guess no one has heard of mufflers.
But we do have a new law 30 MPH over the speed limit and the government gets your car and license.
This is in a state where 51% of the drivers have no license or insurance.
