M/T Drag Radials vs. M/T ET Streets????
Getting ready to purchase a set of dedicated drag racing tires, and i'm stuck deciding which way to go.
I Currently have a set of 17" OEM Z06 Wheels that I plan to use for drag racing. Originally i was going to go with some ET Streets, but now i'm pondering the idea of getting some MT drag radials. I'm only probably going to use them once or twice a year.
Anyway, overall, how much of a difference in 60' ft times and overall 1/4 times should I expect by going ET Street over Radials, and vice versa.
Thanks for your input

There are a few other factors to consider:
Your current (and future potential) mods?
Stick or automatic?
Driven to and from the track on the dedicated drag tires?

The driving to and from the track is the other question. The track that we usually go to is about 60 miles from my house.
I assume your not supposed to drive ET Streets a long distance? Certainly its more convenient to mount the tires at my house rather then at the track, but i'm willing to transport the tires, and do the swap at the track as well.

I would likely go with the drag radials then, better for automatics and more stable at the big end with little to no loss in launch traction/sixty foot. Better street tire as well, I have them on my Z28 (1.58/1.59 sixty foots) full time on the street.
You can drive the ET Streets on the street/highway but it's not really recommended especially in the wet (which is unlikely because generally you wouldn't even be going to the track in the first place with a threat of rain, but it does happen).

Ok, so the ET Streets are not that much more advantageous over the drag radials?
I was under the impression that ET Streets were supposed to be better for hooking up off the line.
As mentioned, I have no issues, taking the wheels with me to the track to mount, if the ET Streets will help more.

I have both sets of tires and my 60's are very similar pushing 400+ rwhp last year with a 5000 stall converter and 3.90s.
I'd go with the drag radials if you are not consider the full drag package

17/18 work equally as well for me in a dr or ET Street...........
Tire pressure is the key, I always launch off idle AFTER I have loaded the drivetrain by going up to 1500rpm on the 2nd yellow and back to idle
On my 97' I have gotten my best 60' time on MT ET Street........RADIALS!
New 275/40/17 on C5 OEM 17 x 8.5 Magnesium wheels = 1.49 60'
Worn out 26 x 11.50 x 16" Mt ET Street on a 16 x 10 CCW drag pack = 1.51 60'
New 26 x 11.50 x 17" Mt ET Street on an PWO Y2K 5 spoke 17 x 8.5 = 1.53 60'
New 345/30/18 bfg dr on HRE 545 18 x 12 wheel = 1.52 60'
I have over 150 passes on these set-ups together and at different tracks....
I do not have a tire fetish..........
The higher the tire pressure the better stability/mph IMHEE. drs I run between 15-20 hot et streets.......14-18 hot
