Default Just ordered Bogart 16x10's - Need tires now

I just ordered a set of rear Bogart 16x10 "welded R/T's" with a 5-5/8" backspacing and i want to get the right drag tires now.
I used to run M/T ET streets 26x10.5x16 on an 8" IROC rim and worked good till i found a bunch more power and 3.90 gears for my 346ci.
So i've been talkin and researching and i'm pretty sure the 28" tire is the way to go correct?
I've been lookin at the 28x11.5x16 Hoosier quick time pro DOT drag tires that tread measures 10" & its recommends a 10" wide rim and the overall tire width measures 11.8"

My question is, is this the tire to run and will it fit under my C5?

I'm not sure but I think the 28s will rub the top of your wheel wells. I use the 26".

I'm sure someone using 28s will chime in.

I'm worried about rubbing the top of the wheel wells as well as my car is lowered but i can raise it up a bit to make them work if needed.
i liked the 26's but i'm worried they will not be able to handle the shock or power the car will put to them with a 4000 stall, 3.90's and max 550rwhp.
I was using the 26's with my 6 speed and spec 3+ they'd spin for 10' or so but still would 60' at 1.67's
How much room would i gain if i removed the rear inner wheel wells?
Let me know what you guys think

Some people do remove the inner liner, and have had success with running 28" tires.

Why do you want 28" - are you running out of RPM?

You can go 138 or so (7000 rpm) with 26" tires and 3.90 gears...

You will likely have some rubbing issues if car is lowered. That tire is more than you need for traction. I'd go with a 26" tire.

actually i don't know about the rpms yet cuz i'm just now converting over to the RPM 4L60E auto from my 6 speed and i was just making the assumption that i'd be spinning with the auto since 1st gear is lower than my 6 speed 1st gear and i was spinning with the 26"

Plus alot of fast people are running the 28" so i figured they must know something i don't. I've been following Redgar and he's went to a 28 as well.?

Ok, so if i go with the 26" should i at least go with the 26x11.5x16 since it'd be at least wider than what i've got now? cuz my 10.5 et street tread measures 8.4" and might look really stupid on a 10" rim?

This might be a dumb question but what would it hurt to go with the 28"? I'm assuming the 60's a bit? but what else?

BTW, thanks guys for the help, i'm not trying to argue w/ the advice, just trying to get it figured out so i order as few of tires as possible since they are so cheap lol.

Yes. Redgar has had suceess with 28" tires. He would be a good person to talk to but 26" tires should work also.

Yes, if you decide on an et street or M@H cheater slick then go with a 26x11.5x16. I have used et streets and M@H slicks in that exact size if you want to purchase. [$100 plus shipping for et streets-set] [$200 plus shipping M&H set-only 3 passes].

Also don't rule out a drag radial in 16" as well.

I am definitely a fan of more tire. I leave hard with 5000+ stall converters and have had little luck with the 26" so have used either 28" slick or either of the the MT ET Street Radial II tires. The 315 is a little shorter and wider of course and the 295 has been just right for me.

the only negatives with the 28 if beside a little cost i think, is since it is taller you may have to accept a little rub on the inner fender liner or take them off and if the trap rpm is important to you, the taller tire will eat some rpm and the shorter tire will give it back provided you don't change gears. I would rather trade more meat at the line for a lower rpm at the trap.

Whoops I should of read this before i just PM'd ya Redgar lol - FYI i just got a call from RPM transmissions suggesting that for my setup to run a Vigilante 3600 stall - I actually thought he'd say something higher stall yet but didn't. Now that we know the converter, i've got the 3.90's, and hopefully a tough 4L60E I truely am lost now what to run for a rear tire lol
All i know is i want it to hook (which now it doesn't cuz its a 6 speed) and i want some quick et's
I've narrowed it down to either the M/T ET streets 26x11.5x16 which tread measures 9.7" or the Hoosier QTP 28x11.5x16 as it is a true 10" tire.

FYI, ordered the Hoosiers QTP 28x11.5x16 - They look huge but i don't have them mounted up yet. I think they will be great. Thanks for all the help!
