Joe, for what it's worth, I've launched at 4000+ on a 100 shot of nitrous and running in the 10s with these tires. I was as surprised as anyone that they hooked. I was using about 18 psi.
I noticed a dramatic difference when I went to 315 mickeys from 275's which I used for years. I'm worried that I'm not gonna be happy with these Toyos and so I'll have wasted $275 trying to save $125.

Cap'n how did you compare to the Mickeys? Did you buy Toyos next time or Mickeys?

I think he went back to Hoosiers after that, changing at the track.
I think he used a pair of used M/Ts (that he'd bought from me ) when he was still a bolt on car but they weren't quite fresh enough to make for a good comparison.

I am using 16" Hoosiers now and I swap at the track.
I've only used the 275/40/17 M/T once and I couldn't give an honest opinion. The tires were very experienced and I didn't have any success with them.

If I were going to go back to a 17" wheel and drive to the track, I'd buy the toyos.

I am on my second season running the Toyo Drag Radials and I like them a lot. I run a 98 bolt on car with auto trans that runs consistent low to mid twelves and I rarely have a problem hooking with these tires. Size is P275-40-17 mounted on 17 x 8.5 wagon wheel. I consistenly cut 1.65 to 1.67 sixty foot times.

Best place to purchase them is Tiresdirect.net.

They might, especially while you still have the stock torque converter in there.

They would work for you Artie but wouldn't last that long with the John Force burnouts you do.

I'm glad your feeling better

You told me to do a light burnout and then stage.

Doesn't look like a light burnout to me in your avatar Artie.

Says the guy who also has a smokey burnout avatar pic (though it's nothing compared to Artie's) LOL.

OK Marc. You're right but I bet I can do a better burnout than Artie with the Z06.

I run the 315/35-18 Toyo TQ and they do much better then the M/T, they last longer and they cost less.

This is a 7 flat 1/8 mile with a 1.4 60'

Now this is some news...I'm in the market for some new DR's. What are your mods? 1.4's are outstanding!

The prices are cheaper than M/T by enough to matter...I'm eager to hear more about your experience.

Thanks!!

I blew that motor up 2months ago but it was a LS3 with a cam, 3000 rpm stall headers CAI. It made 455rwhp. My new set up should be 550-580rwhp, so next week I should know how the tires do on this set up.

I got the Toyo TQ approved for the Texas Mile also. It is either the Toyos or the Hoosier if you want to run anything that will stick.

Default Ok, so is this

Thread back from the Dead, or what?!.....

I was "re" researching these Toyo Proxes TQ's again the last couple weeks for my own Z, as I'm use to driving always on a DR with my previous LSx car(s), etc. so a good all around happy medium "Stick & Move tire is what I'm looking for.

Hope they work at least as good as what is currently on there, though I wanted a tad more diameter and footprint, and the fuller look that the Toyo 315/35 x18's give, over the Nitto 305/35 x 18's, while still staying within height guidelines.

As the Z is a second car for me, I'll try the Toyo's on some new wheels I picked up, and keep the dark Z06 set for alternates.

Have to, as I bought them tonight....

Nonetheless I see I'm in great company (Turbo Bob, Capn' Peter), even though news wise, it's from days gone by....lol.
