Default C5 Z06 bolt on -street tires - 1/4 results

I took my 2002 bolt on C5 Z06 to the track last Friday. I wasn't expecting to do very well as i'm still on the original 10+yr old Goodyear F1 Supercrap tires. Car blows the tires off really bad in 1st and 2nd gear.

2002 C5 Z06
ARH 1 3/4 longtubes
catless xpipe
Callway Honke CAI
Dyno tune
402rwhp 376rwtq on a Mustang dyno

I only had one decent pass and that was my first run of the night. I did a real easy soft launch at 2200rpm on this pass.

60 -- 2.32
330 -- 5.432
1/8 -- 8.138
MPH -- 90.57
1000 -- 10.415
1/4 -- 12.355
MPH -- 118.26

After my first pass the track turned to **** and I couldn't get any traction at all. Even when trying to leave off idle. Once traction got bad the car started to wheel hop a little. Any ideas how I can eliminate wheel hop with this car? I know wheel hop breaks drivetrain parts.

I think with a set of drag tires this car will go mid 11's pretty easy. I'm thinking I could probably get my trap speed up to 120mph as well.

Anyways, just thought i'd share. I had fun!

GO back with something other than street tires. Once you do it takes a bunch of practice in a manual. We don't have the luxury of a auto doing almost all of the work.

I'm more amazed you're still running the original 2002 tires

Change those tires, not only because the are hard and don't grip, but because they could fail and leave you looking for a new Vette (or life).

I plan on buying drag radials. I just wanted to go to the track once on street tires just for fun.

I bought the car in May of this year and it had the original tires on it with about 50% tread life. I figured I would run them until they are worn out.

Thats a great point! These tires probably aren't safe anymore. I'm going to buy some new ones in a few weeks. Damn they are expensive though!

:
A good long burnout should bring in to 10%. Then you'll feel better swapping them out.
