2013 LSX Rumble World Champion X3
Great weekend until Sunday morning.
Saturday night I had the final from the 2nd Annual Chevy High Performance Nationals from Georgia.
Not to sound cocky, I was asked how or what I was going to do this weekend by many people. My response was "Nail the tree and reel them in on the top end"
At or about 10:15/10:10:30pm Saturday night we ran the final with the other three finals from the LSX. The car I was racing was a 10.00 Firehawk to my 11.50. Knowing that he would come up on me at or about 135 to 138 mph, I set the tune in the car to run dead on so if need be I ran the run the car out the back door.
The video is below of the final. We both staged and I nailed the tree with a .015 to his .046. I did what I said I was going to do. I nailed the brakes and reeled him in. Very close at the stripe. I went a 11.54 to his 10.01. The MOV was .0012, Right lane first .0012.
You will see in the video as I almost hit the center line when I hit the brakes. I did the math from the 1,000 foot to determine what I would have ran. It would have been a 11.495.
Sunday morning is when I was ambushed. I was tuning for first round when the lap top decided the catche had to be recycled and to not interrupt. Well this happened while tuning. I get the backup lap top to start over. After completing the tune I had a no start, just cranking. Well, the 911 phone calls went out with 911 text messages. The announcer made the last call for us to the lanes. I aged 20 years in 3 minutes. I pulled the battery out of the lap top that was doing what ever it thought it could do at this moment. I rebooted. Through any tune in. OMG!!! It started. At this point I did not care if it was running on 6 cylinders. I sneak into the back of the lanes with everyone laughing. Why are they laughing. My pit area was along side the staging lanes. They hear the car cranking, they see me running around like an idiot. I guess they were all praying that would not make it.
In the LSX the ladder is decided from first round winner reaction time. I was not looking to kill the tree first round, that is like voodoo when far away from home at a huge event. I left when I saw yellow, I squeezed the steering wheel thinking I went red due to when I started moving and the tree just turning yellow from what I saw at that moment. The video makes it look different. I was .008. When I saw that I knew I had to back it down a little.
In the final I tuned for 650DA. I guess the car did not like that. I have never set the car so low in a tune. Fromm what I can figure, I would have ran a 11.58 in the Sunday final. He was .012 to my .048 (if I remember correctly). He ran 9.09 to my 11.64 @ 101mph. I did dump just before the stripe thinking he was going to breakout. I was wrong.
Great weekend, stress test to myself, Two finals, A Wally, Number one Qualifier ($400 gift certificate to Aeromotive) 14 contingency, hanging out with my AWESOME FRIENDS and Securing the LSX Rumble Title Again for the third year in a row.
If you watch my Youtube videos, you will see Paul Smith Sr. guiding me through the water box on every pass. A HUGE Thank You to Paul Smith Sr. for all the help and being a great bartender.
Below are some pictures that were up on the The Block, LSXTV.com, GM High Tech and some other locations too.

But congrats again on another great season!

Thanks everyone.
Edgar, I am not able to make PRI this year. It is my daughters birthday weekend. You are always more then welcome to come as my date.
Triple bulb? Track officials said that the system was on autostart and that if I want to deep stage it is on me. No holding the tree. I found out in time shots. I put the second bulb on and the tree flashed. I did not leave the line since I was not on the converter yet or staged deep. At this point I knew the reaction time was out so I staged deep, brought the converter up and then left.
Yellow wheels are the in thing. Ask the import people.
No party here, I am going to Disney.

3rdTimes a Charm!!
Rob congratulations on being Intergalactic Champion for the 3rd year. You earned it with your total effort and the time invested in the traveling. You compete against a very tough group of racers and come out on top. It was an honor and a pleasure to be there with you. We look forward to next year. Think I'll relax and have a little Orange Sherbet!!!
