Finally made an 8 second pass
New motor went in my Tbird over the weekend and we tested running the Tues. night gamblers race at Atco.
First pass off the trailer, the car went 8.70 at 147 breaking up at the top of low and high gear (powerglide) with a 1.25 60'.
Second pass was actually first round of elims. After some carb tuning and increasing launch RPM to 4500 the car went 8.73 @ 129 lifting just past the 1000' (I treed the guy .011 to .028 caught him early and dumped). The car picked up .08 in the 1000 so this would have been a low 8.60 pass all out. Sixty foot was a very solid 1.18.
Third pass (2nd Rd) I draw a dragster dialed 7.62. I'm .012 to his .008, he catches, pedals and takes the W. The car slowed up a tick from what we believe to be a sticking brake caliper but overall it was a solid pass.
I'm hoping with some tweaking the car can be a viable Super Gas player so I can give some NHRA Divisional racing a try.
