Please rate my 1/8 time slips
Mods in signature. Running on oem size new-condition BFG tires from 1987 (proven by the DOT number). Terrible track w/ terrible prep. No heating the tires in the wet box.
Ran a 9.6 @ 77mph w/ a 2.6 60ft and massive traction problems in 1/2 gear. Granny shifting.
Would a better 60ft bring that time down a lot?

Cold idle:
Thank you for the compliment and input. So for the 27 year old tires I have you think I did decent? If I had some nice drag radials and could get a GOOD 60' what do you think I could bring that down to?

A 2.6 60' is absolutely terrible...dangerous even.. Why would you even try to drive on 27 year old tires? Let alone race on them.
Anyway, your 9.6 ET converts to around a 14.90 1/4.. About what a stock 87' C4 auto runs.
The good news is your terrible 60' would easily be remedied with some good drag radial tires, likely knocking 6-7 tenths off of your 60'... That would likely put your car around an 8.80 1/8 and/or 13.80 in the 1/4. Not bad at all..
So go get yourself some tires before you wreck it, hit the strip again and report back.

Thank you for the input.
An 8.8 1/8 mile is a top dog at my horrible prepped track. My buddy's dad has a supercharged 5.3 4x4 Silverado single can short box brand new and runs a 9.1 and be said to me "hell us 4x4 guys fear launching at that track" lol. I had a mustang gt that ran an 8.8 @ 88 mph on doggy 273 gears. My c4 has 3.07 which are marginally better.
The reason I keep these tires is because despite their old age, they are in great shape. No rotting, no apparent hardening (although I'm sure compared to stock they are boards) etc.
What kinda 60' would I need to get an 8.8 or better do you think? I run to about 6200 rpm in first and roughly 6050 or 6100 rpm in second at give or take 65 mph

I'm sure your car/combo is capable of a 1.9-2.0 60' on a decent drag radial. I don't race on street tires, can't help you there. Although my Ecoboost F150 4x4 did turn a 1.99 60' launching in 4hi on 33" ATs.
Usually .1 tenth reduction in 60' is good for .1-.15 tenth reduction in 1/4 ET..... Many claim .1 in the 60' is good for .2 in the 1/4 but I have never seen that much gain personally on any of my cars, trucks, motorcycles that I drag race.
