a couple of photos I took earlier this week
they said it would probably be painted this week, so I imagine it is drying at this time
these guys ain't messing-around
stripes will arrive GM-certified supplier in the next 10 days, so it'll start looking like a Z28 again
driver better start getting his ****-together

I didn't get back with the car until shortly before sun-down on Thursday, then left at the crack of dawn Friday to go and watch a day of practice & qualifying of the World Street Nationals @ Orlando Speed World, and haven't had a chance to post the few photos I took while towing it back until this morning
I wanted to do something a little old-school / patriotic, like Bruce Larson's line of USA-1 cars in the 1960's & 1970's
but I didn't want to go too-crazy, in the event I didn't like it, because I'm not a flashy-type of individual:
worse, I might be uncompetitive, and look like a no-talent d!ck with a fancy paint job
after the minimal amount of body-work was finished, and the car primed, I had the car squirted the brightest shade of White we could find
next, I had a set of OEM-style, two-tone stripes custom made, in non-original Red-over-Blue
when I raced the car back in the Stone Ages, I was able to win 19 Firestone / TNN (now Summit) Series events, and I am going to place a Blue star above the Red stripe, starting behind the front tire and extending lower door for each of those wins, leaving room for 6 more at the trailing edge of that stripe, for a total of 25:
I told my girlfriend, who strongly petitioned for a bolder Stars & Stripes design, that if / when I reach 25 wins, maybe we'll have the car re-done again the next off-season (June-July-August here in Florida) in a more-vibrant scheme
I'll have either a Wounded Warrior Project decal, or a Gadsden flag decal made, and place it on the rear deck-lid, simply because having 'SCREW YOU, BARRY SOETORO' painted there might be misinterpreted

Looks really good Glen. And it will look even better with the "more-vibrant scheme" when (none of this "if" sh$t) you get that 25th win.

not much to report on the race car, but Saturday 9 January, we broke ground on a modest garage behind my home, by scrapping the yard, in preparation for the concrete floor, and tomorrow (weather-permitting), we begin putting forms for the concrete up
this view will be looking at the front of the garage (a pair of doors), with the back of my home just out of view to the Right (5' between them), and the Blue dashed line shows the border, 12' from the base of the building
24' deep x 28' wide, it will be heavily insulated & air-conditioned, so that I can move my small gage-making shop there, yet still have plenty of room for tools, and spare parts, plus I can keep my 1-ton tow vehicle on the Left side of the garage, under a slanted roof, to keep it from the oppressive sunlight, with an identical 24' x 28' concrete slab in-front of those garage doors (foreground)
once this garage project is complete (patience is HIGHLY over-rated), I can begin focusing on getting some seat time in my Z28

if anybody is still following-along, things are still progressing with the construction of my small garage, and after every work session, I try to take a picture from the exact location as I did before it began (a mill-hunk version of time-lapse photography?), that can be compared to the photo I shared in my last post
forms for the concrete garage floor began going-up 14 January
forms completed, exterior 'bell-footer' dug, area sprayed for termites, plastic sheeting & reinforced screen applied, inspection completed 21 January
concrete floor poured & floated 25 January
identical 28' wide x 24' deep concrete pad, in-front of door (foreground), scrapped & graded, 7 February (the 4th anniversary of me selling the '82 Coupe in my signature below)
that panel (which I am calling an 'apron'?) poured and finished with a broom 23 February
one side & back wall rough-framed 3 March
trusses delivered (foreground), opposite wall & garage doors roughed-in 4 March
the father / son crew (White shirts in foreground) would probably have this finished earlier... except the guy in the Yellow shirt keeps getting in the way
additionally, a few weeks ago, I was able to help Fuzzy Dice locate a big-tire, back-halved car that he will be campaigning this season ~ this car has been fairly-successful and well-known in Florida, so he will finally have enough tire & chassis to ensure consistent launches

these few photos were taken in mid-July, and it passed the final inspection just last Friday
the Summer heat has been KILLING me, mowing 5-7 lawns each morning, and it's often 90*f+ by 11 AM (I'm too-old for this ****), so I've been slow to start (translation ~ I haven't started yet) moving things into the garage yet
just this morning (actually, before 8 AM), I moved the final pieces of scrap from the apron, rearranged left-over lumber, paint & shingles in the garage, and put the C5 inside for the 1st time
I still need to move my gage & template-making shop into there, then I can begin making final preparations on the race car, which, will being stored at a friend's house during construction, has had both front tires fail due to rotting in the hot sun:
as-low-as that car sits, I'll have to jack the front up while on the trailer, then remove & replace the tires, before I can get it onto the ground
"go-racing", they said. . . "you'll have fun", they said. . .

WOW-Glen, your garage turned out spectacular! There will be many jealous viewers of what you now have, including myself.
Having a hard time starting in the AM now, wait another 15 years, Tylenol will be your friend. Hope to see you soon!

without hesitation, I replied "rich & bored"
