Default What Can I Do..With Traction?

Well I hit the local 1/8th mi track last night with some crappy old 275/40r17 mickey Thompson drag radials. I was blowing them off the line even when easing into the throttle. I was getting big time wheel spin even passed 100ft, 2.0 60ft. Even then I mustered up a 7.2@106mph. What do you guys think it can do with traction? I think i have to look at some 28in bias ply slicks. I'm at 685rwhp, supercharged LS3 with the car just over 3000lbs, C5 coupqe 4L65E. Would like to hit the 1/4 next month.

54* temp
2.0 60ft.
4.9 330ft.
7.2 1/8th mi.
106.00mph

Not sure what psi you are running but with a auto and decent drag radials you should cut 1.8 or better. You can always get new tires. Or better yet 16 rims and tires... larger side wall... 15 inch even more so... not sure.if it wI'll clear factory rear brakes. BUT more side wall... heat tires.... with air pressure around 15... you should cut .5-.6th second off the 1/4 mile and .3th of that 1/8th.

Had the tires at 15psi warm. Best I did was 1.9 60ft. I feel the prep wasn't that great either which didn't help. I agree, I think if I want a serious drag strip time I'll have to put some c5 calipers to fit a 16in wheels at least for that day.

How old are the tires? If they're more than a year old and haven't been stored properly that might be your problem right there.

I used to run those tires on my C6 with an LS7/A6 combo and with around 600rwhp I was right at the edge so I first switched over the 275/40/17 Hoosiers and then 315/35/17 Hoosiers. Best ever 60ft with the 315s was 1.36 while only launching at 2100RPM.

Check my sig for a car that makes considerably less power than you for an example of where you should be. BTW I run 16" MT drag radials. My 1/8" mile for the numbers in my sig was 6.44 @ 105.7

I hear ya, but since you are already running 106 MPH in the 1/8th, your car has the potential to run just as quick as mine. Even quicker I'd say since you have considerably more HP than me and about 300 lbs less weight.
